    Good morning everyone!

I was hoping for some insight regarding Smokie’s BG levels and insulin dosing. I did two curves over the weekend, and plan to do more this coming weekend. I don’t like that he keeps missing doses due to low numbers but I don’t feel comfortable shooting when his BG is “blue.” I am having a hard time figuring out what the best dose for him is.

    Thank you!!!

I'd try a moderately low dose like 0.5 u and give it consistently both AM and PM. Part of the problem might be from varying the dose in response to the PS. That can work well once your kitty is close to regulation and the tweaks are small. Larger, frequent changes like 2 u to 0 u to 1.5 u to 1 u are increasing his volatility - in my opinion. We generally find that giving a consistent dose over many cycles can help to level a kitty out and then increasing by no more than 0.25 u (and keeping the same dose both AM and PM) if data shows it's needed.
