About 2 months ago I posted a link for a free Aviva Accu-Chek meter. Sorry, Canada only. "Free" was not free, after printing the offer and getting out my magnifying glass I found I had to buy 100 strips AND did not get the meter I asked for, but....
    1) The new strips worked with my old meter, same model number, same everything.
    2) Today my original meter's single battery finally died. I took the new meter out of the box, "Batteries included". Not only that but they were the same batteries I needed, type 2032 and there were two of them, Duracells! They range in price from $2.50 to $8.99 for one. If you go this route just tell a little fib, "I was just diagnosed, don't know what type of diabetes I have, have never home tested before." Don't mention a drug plan or a cat.
