Another vendor at the Farmers Market traps. Water trapping season just started and that has presented me with an opportunity for alternatives to chicken for the cat food I make. I can have the carcasses, including innards at no cost. He has muskrats right now which are frozen. He expects have beaver and possibly mink.
Please no comments on trapping. It's an opportunity to make use of the whole animal and give my cats needed variety that I couldn't otherwise afford.

Beaver may be a problem due to their size 40-60 pounds. Skinned and cleaned would be less, of course. It would have to be obtained fresh (not frozen), processed and then frozen. They are 30% fat & 70% protein. Nutritional data - http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/lam ... cts/4621/2

The muskrats aren't very large so being frozen won't be a problem. I found the nutritional information at http://nutritiondata.self.com/facts/lam ... cts/4643/2
    They are 45% fats & 55% protein.

Anyone have any ideas, thoughts, etc. on how to make this work into a raw diet. I would have no idea about supplements but that should be workable.

If you have the organs and bones, you don't need to add supplements.

Taurine comes from organ meat like heart, and calcium is needed from the bones.

Do you have a good grinder? The bones would need to be ground twice I understand the get the pieces small enough

Have you read www.catinfo.org about making your own food? Also, you could maybe email Dr. Lisa Pierson for a consultation.
