Smokey has been sneezing and lazy, she's eating ,peeing, and pooping. She sounds like she congested.

Ah Luanne, sorry Smokey isn't feeling well. Maybe worth a call to the vet. Glad to hear she is eating and voiding. Hope she feels better soon.

Sounds kinda like she has a hairball, but sneezing isn't near as bad as last night. I just canceled her sugar check today at the vet due to having no car today. I was wondering if if there are any vitamins that are safe for her being on insulin and all I'm not sure.

Vet said ok to give some lysine! she seems a little better, i made her take a walk on her harness and she was trying to eat grass. I get her up the street and she runs like the wind to get back home lol!

I told them I have 500 mg tablets, they said only a quarter of a tablet twice a day.

Is it a powder that you put into their food?

hi Luanne - just a reminder to now check everything you give your cat to make sure there are no sugars or carbs in it - I had been giving my cat a probiotic "Culturelle" and read the ingredients and sure enough, there were sugars and/or carbs. I use lysine powder -

If you have more than one cat, you should start all of them on the l-lysine. Respiratory infections can easily spread between cats. If you start them all on it, then it will reduce the chance of the others catching it.

I give about 250 mg twice daily for my cats w/o symptoms (runny nose/eyes) about 500 mg twice daily when they have symptoms.

I usually crush the tablets also. You can find the powder at health food stores, but it usually expires before I use all of it.

Thanks everyone! I did give her some lysine yesterday and today, she seems a little better. my other cat has the herpes virus ans Smokey never caught it from her unless she's getting it now that she's diabetic, can that happen?

It can be latent and triggered by stress or other illness (like shingles in humans).

I was wondering. They have both been together for ten years now. Thanks! :)
