Hi all! I'm sure just like the last two days I will have things to ask about today with my fat baby. First thing, my fat cat peed a tiny bit outside of the litter box, it was only a tiny bit, and it didn't have any blood, nor did I hear him straining or hurting while using the box, he's not going any more than usual, and it was right beside the litter box, it's possible that he was positioned wrong and just missed the box, but I will have to keep an eye on this to make sure he is not trying to get a UTI or a crystal. I did of course take the oppurtunity to dip that urine! Good news in that he went from having 1+ glucose in his urine to having 1/2+ (although not normal, a step in the right direction). No ketones still, specific gravity is actually a little high (which I think is ok because that mean his urine isn't super dilute) ph is around 6 which is good for keeping crystal production down. No blood, trace amount of leukocytes ( will keep an eye on symptoms to make sure he doesn't seem to be getting a UTI, although the urine sat on the floor for some time, so it could've been slightly contaminated. Nothing else abnormal.

He does seem a little depressed this am :-/. Not sure if it's from all the pokes he's getting, or if it's that he's was at the end of his 12 hours since his last insulin and he sugar is back up which seems to make him feel sluggish. I did just feed him
And give him his insulin so hopefully he will be feeling better soon.

Yay, yay! Fat cat has an apt tomorrow at 4 pm (eastern time) with a cat only clinic here in savannah!! I'm praying and counting on that she will know best practice for his diabetes! And help me get a new food, and maybe a long acting insulin! Now, how do I ask my current vet to fax over his records without seeming like an asshole.

I ordered a whole bunch of these cat treat sticks that both my cats love, but I'm not sure how to figure out the carbs, They are called "Prime taste treats" interactive jerky snacks. I got three flavors. It says they are 90% meat. Crude protein 28% crude fat 15% crude fiber 3% moisture 30%. Can my fat cat have this? He got a sample in his kit nip box and adored them, so I ordered $50 worth, and they just got here, but now I'm not sure if he can have them.

Yes :-/ I see that, so probably not a good option, maybe I will just give it to my other cat, or maybe just give him one small piece after sugar checks.

Ok, if I even do it, I'm a little hesitant, I'm making the poached chicken this evening for him as treats, I probably will just stick with that.

*eyetwitch* fat cats PMPS is 430!!!! Ayyyeeee, the struggle, none of those new treats were given, I promise.

He just sitting around chilling cleaning his face like .... "no big deal, I'm just a sack of sugar!" Frustration

In other news, ear pricks are getting easier, using the 30 gauge lancets (even though it's suggested against) and using the poking tool that came with the kit, he didn't even seem to notice the prick this time, just that I was messing with his ears.... ugh my fat sugar drop....

I'm curving him tonight, just as an aside, I work nights so being awake at night is much better for me than days, also I hope it will be useful for the new vet tomorrow.

I know we keep beating the subject into the ground, but setting up the spreadsheet will tell us a lot! Like where that 430 came from, was it a bounce or insulin poop out...

I think someone gave me the link for the spread sheet, but I can't quit figure out how to get it, there were lots of instructions that contained google

I think I can figure it out from my laptop. Thanks so much for all your help !

LOL! I have no good advice for you, except that once you have your spreadsheet set up (and there are smart folks here who can help you with that, unfortunately I'm not one of them) you will get more specific input. Just had to let you know that "sack of sugar" really did make me laugh out loud, though. When I switched vets I told the first ones I wanted a second opinion...then I took the info & ran with it, never to look back. ;) Best wishes to Fat Cat & you.

You can also just tell your old vet that you're going to stop by and pick up a copy of her records so you can keep a file at home (just in case you ever needed to go to an ER so you'd have them) ;)

They are yours....you paid for them!

The spreadsheet is a Google doc not excel. You will need a Google account. Some tablets and phones do not support the Google app.

That's a good idea about telling them I need his records just in case, I'm thinking I will probably just tell the truth, I'm not good at lying. His +2 BG 334 his +4 was 238 so far. His poor ears already look a wreck :'-(

Are you using a little Neosporin with Pain Relief ointment on them? It can really help...and they will get better!! As you can see, China's pure white and if you looked at her, you couldn't tell which ear I test (and if you look at her spreadsheet, you can see I test a lot!)

If you want some help with your spreadsheet, send me a private message. Once I get some info from you, it only takes about 30 seconds for me to do it so it's no problem.

To start a private message just click on my name and choose "Start Conversation"

Ok, I might send you the information, but I'll be testing all night so maybe in the morning I will send it. Yes I have been using the neosporin... he doesn't really act like his ears are bothering him, I just feel bad. He seems very chipper, happy, awake and alert right now with his sugar in the 200's.

You will need to send me an email addy that's connected to a Google account, the type of meter you're using and what country you live in
