My vet told me there is a new FDA approved, "PZI type insulin" on the market. I can't find anything. Is he bs-ing me about Vetsulin again, or is there really something new? We are currently on BCP PZI and have had very good success, but Bear recently had a hypo attack which I don't think is from the BCP, but I am not sure at this point because I had started a new bottle a few days before.

    Thanks
    Cheryl

Yeppers, ProZinc or PZIR recently came out, and several here have started using it. I don't know much more about it, but others will probably chime in soon, and/or you can search on those names here and Think Tank (if you're up to that ;-) ) to see what others have posted about it so far.

Is Bear ok post-hypo? Hope it wasn't anything too serious...

    Cheryl,

We started Prozinc about 2-3 weeks ago. I think it became available about Thanksgiving.
I can't remember exactly, but it costs about $120 for a 10ml vial. It is a milky white insulin that doesn't settle out like some others and it is supposedly stable.

Don't judge much by our whaky numbers, I suspect more is going on with my guy..... I've been welcomed with open arms into the big gulpers club (hi dose).

I haven't actually checked these sites myself, but there are 2 websites listed on the starter kit:
    www.ProZinc.us
    www.BI-Vetmedica.com

    Hope this helps!

The right price for ProZinc is $90.

Search my postings here in the PZI group for more info. It's the real deal.
