Welcome. What food did you substitute for the glucose balance rx canned? There are many commercial canned cat foods that are low in carbs. The pate styles of Friskies and Fancy Feast are popular for the cats here.
Some cartakes do prepare raw food based on the information in the following.

Hi Kathy, welcome to you and Middie Mittens! As Larry said, there are lots of better choices to replace the glycobalance, and several members do raw feeding for their kitties as well. If you copy this post over to the main health forum, you’ll likely get more responses to help you out :)

Hi Kathy and Middle Mittens, welcome to FDMB

Please take a look at this link and create a signature so we can see Mittens' information when you post:
    http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/editing-your-signature-profile-and-preferences.130340

We use a spreadsheet here to record and review insulin and blood sugar testing results to see how the insulin is working for our kitties. Here is a link to the area with instructions for set up:

When you post in the Main Health forum here looking for diet information, I would be happy to tell you about the raw diet with supplement that Idjit is on now, and there are canned wet low carb foods that are more textured that are also good choices. It's always best to transition any diet changes gradually, to help prevent gastric troubles and to help prevent the blood sugar from dropping drastically low, especially if you are not home testing regularly and can evaluate changes.

We will help all we can with questions, concerns and issues that will come up as you learn the sugar dance. :cat:
