I am new so hope I am doing this right. My kitty Prince was diagnosed with diabetes this morning and my head is still spinning. Think I got everything we need but the wrong syringes so have to find the right ones tomorrow, I have one the vet gave me for morning. I am also diabetic but I take pills, my little guy is not so lucky. Looking forward to getting to know you all. Thanks for being here. Penny

Welcome Penny! I'm in Colorado too - just north of Denver. Take a look around the forum. We have a very successful protocol: a mild long lasting insulin, wet low carb diet and home testing

Let us know how we can help.

Welcome to FDMB, the best place you never wanted to be.

There are 4 things you'll need to manage your kitty's diabetes:
    - You - without your commitment, the following won't work.
    - Low carb over the counter canned or raw diet, such as many Friskies pates. See Cat Info for more info. If already on insulin, you must be home testing before changing the diet.
    - A long-lasting insulin such as ProZinc, Lantus, BCP PZI, or Levemir.
    - And home blood glucose monitoring with an inexpensive human glucometer such as the WalMart Relion Confirm or Target Up and Up (the pet ones will break your budget!).
