Hi guys; so my little black 4-year-old cat, Lola, was diagnosed with (potentially steroid-induced) diabetes mellitus last Friday. She is asthmatic and takes 3.75 mg prednisolone in the mornings to control it. She had a blood sugar of about 24 mmol/L at the clinic (both on blood work and via a blood glucose meter). Now, she's been prescribed 1 unit ProZinc insulin every 12 hours, and I'm taking her blood sugar before each injection, which she is very good about.

Anyways, hello to you all. I will be posting in other forums for advice on management. So glad this site exists...

welcome! awesome that you are testing right from the get go! whenever possible try to get a mid cycle reading or two to see how low she's going. Prozinc tends to hit it's low around 6-7 hours after injection.
