Sorry for the bother, but I need some advice.

Pepper has only been on Novolin N for a week. Based on her #'s, is it safe to increase her insulin now, or should I wait? (No way to test mid morning because I'm at work) I would ask the Vets office, but they won't return phone calls. So, I thought I would ask here.

I see no reason to not increase to 1 1/4 units

She's really high. If it were my cat I'd try 1.5.

Thank you. The Vet actually did a consultation with me and increased her insulin to 1.5 u. She also said to call her if there's any problems with her #'s and the results of her curve in a couple weeks.

I'm glad to hear your vet doesn't increase in whole units like most do. Good luck

Hi @Peppersmom72 , I agree about increasing the dose.
If you are concerned, however, about not being able to test during the morning cycle, you could try the increased dose just on the pm cycle for a few days just so you can get a sense of how it's working in your kitty's body.

In the notes in the first entry on your SS you wrote: "Dx'd with Diabetes...Crystals in urine, Elevated Pancreatic enzyme, High WBC." ...Was there any indication of infection or other specific health issues at that point?

Well done for learning to hometest! You're doing incredibly well. :bighug:
And please never say 'sorry' for asking questions. That's what we're here for, so ask, ask, ask... :cat:

Just in case you've not been given it yet, here's the link to the 'Beginner's guide to Novolin'. This is general information for those starting out.

    Hi @Elizabeth and Bertie,

At her vet visit, "Pepper has crystals in urine" is what I was told by the Dr. I was able to get a copy of her lab results and put them in Peppers spread sheet (for everyone to view, please let me know if you are unable to view them). I see NO crystals noted in her urine at all on her lab results. Dr did say that she had an "elevated white blood cell count" listed as abs eosinophils that could indicate infection or parasite, but she said she wanted to get her diabetes under control first before we jump another hurdle. She did have fleas a few months back that she got from our house we moved in to. She has been treated with Advantage II, and there are no fleas on her now and we were able to get them out of the house, as well.
