Doodles is a very picky eater and some of you know he is still a challenge with eating wet food. He also has IBD (dx via biopsy...clinical analysis is minimal too mild) which we've opted not to treat clinically. My personal opinion of pharmaceutical drugs is they do more harm than good...it's very controversial but it's my stance.

Doodles recently had an allergy test done called ImmuneIQ which took hair and saliva samples. Of course it cannot be 100% trusted but we will use it as a guideline. One great result is that Beef is on the "good" list since it's the only wet food he'll eat! Worst news...Pork is on the big "NO" list and that is the first ingredient in YAZC (another reason we must get him off dry...and hasn't been from lack of trying trust me) Now we're going to start home cooking ASAP, introducing it slowly with intent to convert him off commercial wet and dry food altogether.

Here are his results (they are loose in some respect) Doodles ImmuneIQ Allery Results . I've also added it to Doodles signature.

I just wanted to share. The test is $90 and we call all attest to spending $90 on much less important things.

That's interesting!!...especially that he's not allergic to beef! That's one that a lot of cats can't tolerate!

I have to giggle a little when I read that Doodles is allergic to pet dander ;)

I agree that sometimes pharmas can do more harm than good. Certainly for myself I very, very, very rarely take any. Unfortunately most vets don't have sufficient knowledge to be able to think outside the box for other alternatives. I have also chosen not to treat Vyktor's stomatitis pharmaceutically at this point preferring to try more natural things that are unlikely to cause harm. The pharmas that may assist (metacam and cyclosporin) can have dreadful for side effects so I consider them to be last resort.

I'm a bit yay on Doodle's pork allergy so that the dry will have to go :) I'm also changing Vyktor to a home made diet to assist with his stomatitis and general health, waiting impatiently for the supplements to arrive!

Here is where I just ordered my supplements from. The ibdkitties.net site ( I consider them the LL&L for IBD) recommends it. I hope home cooking helps Vyktor too! http://www.knowwhatyoufeed.com/shop_online.html . I know, I know....the yucky YAZC food but he can't starve either so fingers crossed this works.

Personally I have celiac disease and before dx 11 years ago (way before gluten free became popular -lol) the doctors had me on every drug. I was sick sick for years even down to 80lbs @ 30 yrs old and btw I'm 5'7" so it was awful and some of my organs were affected because of all the so called treatments for every misdiagnosis under the sun. Now....very healthy but it took me years to put weight back on and no more drugs...only "food controlled" :)

It's funny that he loves Beef & Venison....won't touch Chicken and only sometimes Turkey!

Human dander is apparently just OK, but pet dander not! I wonder what human dander might be??

We also stay away from drugs.

Good luck with the fuds cooking!
