    YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!

Good news, but it's not over yet. Once the karo and HC wears off he could drop again. I'd continue testing...

    Just half for now.

The risk to giving too much at once is that you don't want to make Fred vomit.

It's better to give a smaller amount at a time, then repeat again later.

Small amounts at a time, ok?
We don't want him to get sick. We also want him to be hungry the next time he needs to be fed.

    Husband is now asking:
New test in 15 min. Then what else?
I think he is trying to ask for rest.
    How should he procedure now?
    Set up an alarm?
    How often?

I would test 30 minutes after the last test to see if he is holding his blood sugar up without giving him more carbs. Blood sugar can wobble around and go back down - that's why i'm suggesting not feeding now, but rechecking in 30 minutes.

It's too soon to just figure Fred is ok. I wouldn't stop testing yet.

    That's great!! MUCH better!!

I think I'd have your husband give him a couple teaspoons of the high carb (just the gravy part) and then test in an hour ....since we're aborting the cycle, it's fine to keep feeding the HC...we just don't want him to refuse to eat it if we need him to or eat so much he makes himself sick

Letting him go ahead and have a little more of the gravy will help keep him up...and since he's slowed down from dropping so fast, it'll give your husband a break for an hour

let me explain - the reason I'm not suggesting feeding, is that if you want to be able to go to sleep, then we need to know that he's holding his blood sugar flat now without the assistance of high carbs. They can wobble around and the carbs can wear off. That's why I'm not suggesting carbs at this point. If he drops later, then he might need them again, but at this point, i wouldn't give any.

yes, i think he can set his alarm and sleep for an hour. as long as he will be able to wake up.

Isabela...what Julie says is true...it's kind of a decision you need to make with your husband....since we're aborting the cycle, it doesn't matter how high he might go from the HC food, but we also at some point are going to want to stop feeding to see if he can hold his blood glucose up on his own

We want to get him past nadir....maybe try a little low carb? See if it holds him....but understand that if you feed him, it's going to mean having to test longer to make sure he can stay up without all the food

well, that's pretty flat. I know it's incredibly late for you. I think you could give him more low carb and retest in 2 hours.

You've stopped his dramatic drop. It's possible he could still dribble down some more, so that's why I'm suggesting retesting in 2 hrs.

I also have to work tomorrow, so won't be here in 2 hours. But our Australian friends will likely be here.

    How does that sound?

    Thank you Tricia!

You're just going to keep it up - the goal is to keep him in a safe range. Lantus lasts a long time, which is why I keep having you check. I'm glad that he's flattened out over 100 - it just gives a little more of a comfort zone.

Good luck getting through the day tomorrow. You're going to be so glad to get home. Your husband has done a great job tonight - and you have too!

How long has it been now since he's had any high carb food or karo? The effects of the high carbs typically wear off after two hours and I think it's been that long. Enjoy that longer nap. I'm fading too. You guys did an amazing job tonight.

What a night but you all did fantastic! Great job helping your husband from afar, Isabela! I hope you can rest when you get home and give your two men a big hug. Awesome team getting you all through it.
