20180709_222957.jpg We had requested a copy of Grandpa's latest ultrasound to send to a specialist. We learned today that the radiologist's hard drive has an issue so she can't retrieve the files. She has offered to do a new ultrasound for free.

I know the chances of this one having different results than the previous are slim, but I can hope. We can use all the positive vibes you all can share.

Thanks! We go Monday at noon. So nervous! We had already planned a weekend away at a cabin in the woods. We're going to take him along for some extra spoiling time.

Thank you all for ther positive thoughts! He's a lucky guy to have so many awesome people and kitties cheering him on. We are heading out soon for a relaxing weekend in a cabin in a state park. We've taken him with us once before and were amazed at how easily he adjusted to different surroundings. He's one laid back customer. Have a great weekend everyone!

I hope I caught you before you left. These pics are of Elmo, the smartest and most "alpha male" cat I've ever had, my first yellow cat. He could sit in the palm of my hand when I adopted him and later he could stand on his tippy-toes and see over the bathroom counter. He defied all the odds later in his life and I believe a loving and stress free home had a lot to do with that.
The will to live cannot be measured in a vets office and no one can tell you otherwise. :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:
Elmo as a kitten, Elmo at my sisters cottage 17 years later soaking up the sun. I miss him every day.

Last year we found a kitten laying near a parking lot. We took her to the vet, and they didn't give us a lot of hope. We had to try, so River came home. After a couple emergency vet visits and learning to syringe fed something that only weighed a few ounces, we all survived. We had plans already to meet friends out of state at a rented farmhouse. No one was all that shocked when we showed up with a little furball.

This year brought four new bottle babies. Here is River with one of the newbies.

    What a cute cabin!!!

And that "bed decoration" is even cuter!!!

He sure doesn't look like a critically ill kitty, so here's another vote for better results on the next US!

That is just priceless, if he's just doing this for attention it's working. Is that his own room?
How is the mattress your highness? Was there a mint on the pillow? Your lobster bisque will be here right away. Garcon!!!

    Ha! That cracked me up.

The sneaky boy may not have the best tummy right now. We were smart enough to hide the extra bacon this morning, but never imagined he would help himself to the skillet of bacon grease while we were eating on the porch. Grrrr.

Let's just say his snout wasn't all that was greasy . We've had a rough day and a half while the old man processed the grease. We went from a relaxing vacation to spending time between litter box cleaning and trying to entice him to eat enough to give him insulin. The poor dude lost weight and looked miserable so we came home very early today.

He finally ate an almost normal wet food meal this evening and then came to beg some of my chicken dinner.

I was so looking forward to having the docs see the great changes in him. He looks weaker and thinner now than I hoped. I have to remind myself that he's still here. For tonight, there's no place like home.

Aw.:( A tummy ache takes a lot out of anyone. So glad he's starting to feel better. He'll feel the benefit of tonight's food soon and may be much improved by tomorrow. Paws crossed and full of vines.

Oh dear, the price paid for a night (or day) of indulgence. Don't most of us, if not all, know about that experience. Poor Grandpa. Be thinking about you guys today and hoping so darned hard for the best outcome. We love you and hold you close, no matter.

We just got home. I wish I had better news. The masses are the same if not worse. We could schedule a biopsy, but the masses aren't operable so treatment wouldn't change, and we add the risk of anesthesia.

My mom went with me so we found a pet friendly BBQ restaurant and treated Grandpa to some fantastic pulled chicken and came home. We will continue to focus on living every day.

I appreciate you all more than you know.

This story has a happy ending.
We were told twice our dog had a "mass" (medically a mass could be anything) and when the oncologist saw me crying she started to cry. Funny thing was no one ever came right out and said the "C" word. We were told whatever "it was" was inoperable. I asked "So take her home, treat her like a Princess and let her eat whatever she wants?" That got pretty hard six months later keeping up the Princess and chicken breast thing. Spoiled dog was misdiagnosed. We all deserve a few miracles in what is sometimes a rotten and unfair world. Maybe the two of you are due. :bighug: :bighug: :bighug:

You are so terrific. Thanks for that story.

I think Grandpa is happy to be back home and into his regular routine. He meowed for breakfast and ate most of his wet food lunch before sampling three other plates of food belonging to the other cats. I treated myself to a burger for dinner. It came with a side of Grandpa trying to snatch it from my hands. He and the dog enjoyed splitting the 1/2 lb burger three ways.

Every day is an adventure, but we are grateful for the trip.

Sometimes I regret hitting the Reply button because I think the story didn't come out right or was "All about me". Gag :(
I'm hoping your daily adventure turns out the same as ours. Someone else made a big mistake but instead of letting anger take over we just let things go and as she started to gain weight and be a happy dog again; no meds, no poking and prodding, we made it past Christmas and stopped counting after 100 days. Who wants hospital food when you can have bacon and burgers?
We're going to our favorite greasy spoon this morning Grandpa. I'll get you a booster seat and a little bib.
