Hello all, it has been long since I posted here because (and i say this with ENDLESS graditude,) my Leo went into remission! Diet control and tight insulin control is what led him there, originally upon diagnosis we immediately stopped with all dry food and they ate primarily Friskies Pate. On this diet both of my cats acted as though they were STARVING, no matter how much i gave them. Their behavior and condition to me seemed normal, it wasnt until I began giving them the raw food that i realized how much they needed it!
The raw food I buy is from a local butcher, raw pet food that is literally just the chicken scraps and organs and whatnot ground up into a blend and sold in a bag by the pound. They absolutely love it. Fur beautifully silky, all gum and tooth issues gone, brighter and more excited, they're back to grazing the raw food throughout the day instead of inhaling all their food and then continuing to beg. They are all around feeling basically new and improved. (Rather, back to their organic carnivorous roots.) Not to mention Leo's been free of bg issues!

I would, and do, recommend raw food to ANYONE.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting is because my butcher is only open on weekends and I missed this weekend, so in a pinch I went to PetSmart and got a tube of FreshPet Vital Grain free. I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with this raw food! It is an absolute tube of mushy pate so I'm honestly expecting some soft stools, hopefully it'll be okay for them until this weekend when I can pick up more of their beloved ground up meat!

Best luck to all of you and your baby kitties, good energy to all!

Just butcher scraps lack all the nutrients required for cats. See the following
    https://catinfo.org/making-cat-food/
There are supplements one can add to raw to make it a complete diet. Here is one but there are others too.

From the description of the Fresh Pet food
    https://freshpet.com/cat/freshpet-select-cat/chicken-beef-cat-food/
It is not clear that it is raw but otherwise OK and it does contain carbs as in Tapioca Starch,

Sorry, no experience with those Freshpet foods with my cats.

The FreshPet foods are on the catinfo food chart, page 19-20. They look ok carb wise <10% per the food list.
