I've added more numbers to Sammie's spreadsheet. I check him as much as I can, even though I know I should do it more. He just won't tolerate too many ear pokes no matter how many rewards I give him. I'm thinking of switching him back to Prozinc to see how he does. That's what he started on and it did control his symptoms, just not his numbers. Plus, back then, he was still eating his regular dry food. The Lantus doesn't seem to be doing any better and it's so much more expensive. I'm waiting for a call back from my vet to see what he thinks. How do I go about switching him back if that's what we decide? Any other suggestions?

Looks to me like you are holding the dose way too long. Sammie appears to need more juice and you have gradually lowered the dose, but it seems you should be gradually increasing the dose. I am no expert by any means, hopefully some more experienced eyes will chime in.
