? Second day - Should I shoot him?

Please can anyone advise me if I should give Fred his second 1/U Lantus?

Yesterday his last meal was at 4 pm.

At 9 pm I tested him before food and he was 347.

At 9:20 I fed him, gave his antibiotics and shoot him with 1/U Lantus.

At 11:25 pm his test was 186.

Today at 8:00 am his test was 183.

He devoured a 3oz FF Classic.

At 9 am should be time to shoot him again.

With 183 result today should I shoot him?

Dx 10/14 Dc, hein art and ears infection.
Taking 2 antibiotics.
Before eat only dry food.

Since 10/14 eating only FF Classic wet.

He is pooping and peeing ok.

 

I just tested him after eating.
Still don't know if I should shoot him.

 

I don't use Lantus but we usually tell new diabetics not to shoot under 200 but to stall. Wait 20 minutes without feeding and retest - to make sure he is rising not falling and nearer 200.

You might post on the Lantus forum and ask for ASAP dosing advice.

 

What are the numbers he should have normally during the day?

290 test at 11:30 am after 2 hrs of insulin.
280 test at 01:30 pm after 4 hours of insulin and no food.
After last test fed him with a 3 oz wet FF Classic.

The glucose numbers should stay above 50 mg/dL on a human meter when using Tight Regulation.
The glucose numbers should stay above 68 mg/dL on a pet meter when using Tight Regulation.
The glucose numbers should stay above 90 mg/dL on a human meter when using Start Low, Go Slow.
Ideally, you want the numbers below the renal threshold which is approximately 240-280 mg/dL as measured in a veterinary lab. The specific number may vary with the cat's renal health.
