Stressed newbies

    Thank you for this website. The Vet hasn't actually confirmed the FD diagnosis. We are hoping a diet change will help BG to go down. Kitty is almost 10 and it's most likely her FD was kicked off by a steriod shot. That and a diet of dry food only except for mice (she's been a great mouser). Really appreciate knowing others that are going through same. Can't thank you enough.

    Hi welcome to you and Kitty. If you get confirmation on the diagnosis it will be very important that you learn to home test Kitty's glucose since as the steroid wears off she may get into normal numbers and not need as much, or any, insulin. We'll be glad to help you learn about testing, feeding, and all things FD. If you have any specific questions post them in the Health Forum where more people will see and respond.

    Welcome! There have been quite a few instances of steroid induced diabetes, so you are not alone here :cat:. Sharon gave you a nice rundown until we get an update if diet change alone doesn't work.
