That's a good low percent for carbs. Seems like a pretty sparse reply from them.

I only asked for carbs and phospherous and they only have 2 flavors of canned cat food

Hmmm. I ran the numbers, from their website, thru two different carb calculators and came up both times with 30-31% carbs (I only ran the Rocky Mt formula). The ingredients list potato starch, pea flour and peas, all of which add carbs.

Ok, I'm taking back my comment of "that food may be good". It doesn't sound appropriate at all if it is over 10% carbs. Especially with those vegetables in there. Cats are obligate carnivores and you never see them eating potato starch in the wild.

It could be that the weight % from carbs is 3.3%/2.0%.
The rule here is that % of calories from carbs is less than 10%. Weight % does not equal % calories from carbs

Looking at the ingredients for these 'gravy' foods, I can't see any way those carb values are correct. Just the potato starch adds more than that not counting the other sources. It takes 'carbs' to make 'gravy'...'sauce' can be made without carbs sometimes. If they were truly trying to give you carb count, I think they missed the correct placement of the decimal.

Are we having fun yet? :) :)

Those ingredients are what made me run the numbers myself! I couldn't see how they could possibly be correct. I wouldn't use their food just because they gave a very dodgy, sneaky answer to Bluesmaven's question!

Reading the Questions and answers section of
    https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.c...ula-with-salmon-and-roasted-venison-in-gravy/
it appears that the 3.3% value is based on the "wet" weight, not the dry matter basis

Hi, Misty. Our Rocky Mountain Feline Canned Formula contains 43.22% protein and 1.33% phosphorus on a dry matter basis.

Hi, Bobbi. Our Rocky Mountain Feline canned formula contains 9.97% protein and 0.31% phosphorus on an as-fed basis. Our Canyon River Feline canned formula contains 9.82 % protein and 0.33% phosphorus.

Something doesn't add up. In Canada there are way more than 2 flavors. That just may be a shipping thing, a labeling problem (must be French and English) or different laws governing content. I'll try to find out later, the manager of my local PetValu is a smart and honest guy.

I did a search on their website for canned cat food and those were the only flavors that came up. But that was ok because I just wanted to know how they compared to others and if they were ok for Reger. I hadn't bought any yet. I still have about 6 cans of Wellness and my other cat just tries to cover it up when I try to give Wellness to her.

Not very scientific; the more it costs the less they want it. Just like the radio controlled mouse vs. bottle cap.

    It's a conspiracy! When I can't sleep I come down here and they're having a meeting. PowerPoint, hors d'oeuvres, a color laser printer I didn't know I had...
