    Anyone,

On YouTube I found a tip for easily obtaining a blood sample for one's glucometer. The tip suggested that rubbing the ear with olive oil before picking the ear would help the blood sample to bead up. I tested this theory and it was true. Applying Extra virgin olive oil to the ear before pricking it caused the blood to bead up allowing one to collect the blood sample more easily. My question to anyone who knows the answer is the following: does olive oil change the chemistry of the blood sample when used to prepare the ear to be pricked?

Some people use a little Vaseline or a smear of Neosporin to get the blood to bead up with no effect on the test result. I think olive oil would be fine too.
