Any ideas on what can cause vomiting and cough? Kenzo has always been a binge eater and it is nothing new for him to gorge himself and vomit. However, since we switched him to low carb FF wet food he had NOT been vomiting. Now as of 3 days ago he is vomiting once a day after he eats and he's been coughing sometimes like he is trying to get up a hairball but nothing comes up most of the time (sometimes he does have hairballs since he has very long hair). Could he be comfortable with the food and gorging himself again and vomiting? I just can't afford to keep taking him to the vet all the time on top of paying for insulin and diabetic supplies. Obviously if he worsens I will take him but I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas or suggestions.

Are you seeing him gorge currently? Binge, then vomit shortly afterward? To slow rapid eating, spread food thinly on a large plate. Adding a bit of water helps spread it, keep the cat hydrated, and may help the cat feel more full.
When was the last time he defecated? (Constipation can provoke vomiting).
Food batches may vary considerably from lot to lot which may act like a sudden food change, provoking vomiting and/or diarrhea. Check the batch numbers on the cans to see if a particular code is associated with vomiting.
Do particular flavors seem more likely to trigger vomiting? A food sensitivity/allergy can provoke vomiting.
Does he have any renal/kidney impairment? The build up of toxins in the blood can cause an upset stomach, leading to vomiting.

How often are you feeding? Maybe mini meals more often will help.

When Kenzo has seen the vet, did they do a chest x-ray? Asthma can sound like coughing.

Are you noticing vomiting in relation to any particular flavor of food? Beef and fish are common allergies for cats as is gluten. These could cause vomiting. Many of us feed multiple, small meals. Reducing the amount of food at any one time may also help to prevent scarf-and-barf.
