What happens if one passes the ideal dose?

Did anybody experienced this? What happens when you pass, from one reason or another, the ideal dose?
Does the kitty goes into hypo? Are the BG numbers getting higher and look like insulin resistance?
Tried to find an answer online but it seems like nobody discuss this specific topic.........

If you follow the guidelines of TR, its highly unlikely you will pass up a good dose. That is likely the reason you do not see the topic discussed - the TR protocol has safeguards built in.

In answer to your question, if increases are done too quickly and or/in increments greater than the TR protocol recommends and you suspect having missed a good dose (there really is no 'ideal' dose) carefully monitor (step up testing) and watch for the signal - a drop below 50. Then reduce according to the protocol.

We generally don't think about testing for insulin resistance due to the formation of antibodies (IAA) or Acromegaly, both high dose conditions, until a kitty reaches a dose of 6u or so.

Here is the link to your last post here. It helps to remember than insulin is a hormone, not a drug. You don't always see incrementally better numbers as you increase the dose. In order to get past glucose toxicity, it's best to follow TR. Which means not holding doses any longer then prescribed. If you are only seeing yellow nadirs, increase after six cycles.

Another thing to keep an eye on is quick drops. On the night of August 27th, Ovi started at 414, you tested 3 hours later at 198, then there were no other tests. If the +2/+3 is a lot lower than the preshot, that's a signal to get more tests in.

The times we usually see kitties over dose is when their vet starts them on too high a dose, or they don't follow the dosing methods we use here and either don't test mid cycle to catch the nadirs, or increase by too much or without knowing how low a dose is taking the cat.
