    Hi.

It's Jenn, Big's owner, and I'm new to home testing. I bought an Alphatrak2 from my vet and bought Freestyle (not Freestyle Lite) test strips with a code of "16" on the vial. How do I know what test strips are compatible with this meter?

    Thank you!

    Ask the pharmacist.

Typically, the only strips that will work in a meter are manufactured by the same company that produced the meter.

Ex the WalMart Confirm and Confirm Micro are branded versions of the Arkray USA Glucocard 01 and 01 Mini (sold by American Diabetes Warehouse) and all use the same strips.

Just as a warning, the Freestyle recently had a recall on their test strips. We also don't recommend the Freestyle brand or the "Tru" brand for home-testing our cats because the numbers have been reported to read lower for felines than they really are.
