I know they sometimes come out and then grow back. I find Cedric's every once and awhile in the carpet. When Dallas came to live with us 3 months ago, I noticed one of his whiskers was short. It still seems to be short. The other day, another one of them (same side) was bent; it has now broken off (probably from them playing) and is now short. Why do you think the whisker isn't growing? His belly sure is, so it's not for lack of food! Thanks for your thoughts!

I would sure like to know about whiskers as well!
I had thought that they were to be the width of the cat, but impossible as Oliver is 33lb and he has whiskers no longer than 3 inches, while the slim 7lb kitten has whiskers that are about 6inches long.

I did find that if they break off, it can take up to 3months to grow back.
