Why do you call it a

Condo?? I've been posting on boards and forums for years but we've never called message threads . . condos.

 

I can't tell you how it came about, but from http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/lantus-basaglar-levemir-isg-slang-dictionary.1903/ (which is linked from http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/the-basics-new-to-the-group-start-here.18139/) :

"Condo - daily thread (one condo a day per cat in the L & L ISG)"


...and the "L & L ISG" is the "Lantus & Levemir Insulin Support Group"...not quite accurate anymore since "Basaglar" is included as well...

Before my time when it started, too. I always figured it was a kind of mash-up of "convo" (conversation) and cat condo (furniture piece), but who knows? It's kind of like saying "vines" for "vibes", as long as we all know what we're talking about, it's good!

 

I was going to ask about vines. I first thought it was a typo, but I saw several use it. I like it, but wondered if it's unique to this forum.

 

It is....it's not something that other forum's do....it started here as a typo and just caught on!!

 

It's this lot. They are all stark raving bonkers.

This place has evolved it's whole own language. Fuds. Beans. Condo. Vines. Plus all the acronyms that pop up to catch a person out.
