Yemala dx crf 6/18; diabetes return 9/18 feeding advice

We are currently working on the diabetes side of our little girl's diagnoses, but I have a question.

I have read through a lot of Tanya's site on crf, and she links impressive recent studies regarding the long term prognoses of cats in stage 2 crf who are fed prescription diets. The difference, as far as I can see, between prescription and commercial foods that are low in phos seems to be that Science Diet and Royal Canin add certain minerals, such as potassium.

The Science Diet k/d we fed Yemala starting in June led to the return of diabetes. She's been off that since September, and she currently gobbles her lc food.

So without putting her back on a high carb prescription diet, is there any way to add the materials that are in that food to assist with the low levels of potassium?
