Both upper incisors and 5 of the the farthest back molars were removed. The upper incisors had lots of pus, so I am going to give an antibiotic (Clavamox).
Also, the allergy test results came back positive for dust mites (3 kinds) and fleas plus a few few tree pollens. Given that I am not the worlds most compulsive cleaner, I may opt to do allergy shots to help her have some relief.
Re: Gracie 04/04-05/2014 - dental done; recovery process
Quartered the Clavamox and wrapped in small bits of American cheese. Nope. Put some of the broth from the Friskies on it. She lapped that up, but didn't get the little cheese balls. Added a small amount of food and she finally ate them. I think she was having trouble getting them up because of the 2 missing top fangs. Fortunately, the Onsior is only once a day and I'm doing that at night.
She was a little high this morning (345 mg/dL), I suspect partially due to pain.
Re: Gracie 04/04-05/2014 - dental done; recovery process
BJ,
When they gave me Clavamox for Arthur after his dental, they gave me a liquid to give as he had 9 teeth removed. It was easy to give along with Buprenex for pain.
Hope Gracie is feeling better, just make sure she is eating, I had a hard time getting Arthur to eat afterwards.
Re: Gracie 04/04-05/2014 - dental recovery process
Her mouth is so painful, getting anything in that way is a fight.
Wrapping in the cheese, placing it on top of some canned food so she can bite a mouthful (harder without the 2 upper canines), and a dash of Forti Flora seems to be working so far.
Poor Gracie! Since Simon just had 6 teeth removed in January, I can relate. He is not doing well at all in terms of his diabetes. The surgery seemed to kick him back into high gear and it is getting worse. Hoping the surgery has the opposite effect on Gracie! :?
