Sid has had a couple of days where he was not high enough to shoot TID so he only got BID but still ran higher than I'd like. And we had a little ketone activity too according to the meter I have. Urine strips have been negative.
I see my options as lower the dose and keep to a TID schedule which I feel was variable and didn't always keep him as low as I'd like. The couple of days he's been BID and been in the 150s to 200s at +8 are better. This is why I think I should increase his dose from 1.6 and see if that holds him longer - maybe to +10 or +11.

Any thoughts on this? I will update his SS with today's numbers shortly.

Hi Lydia,
I'm having a little problem grasping the data on the SS for today....
Looks like he got a shot at 3:20am, then at noon, and at 10PM?
At noon he was at 357, you shot 1.6, then at +10 from then he was at 292. But at +9 he was at 192?

An increased dose can work one of two ways. It can last a "normal" duration and push the middle lower. Or it can last longer, give you a later nadir, but maybe not as low at nadir. The "problem" is that with what I have seen on various spreadsheets, it seems to not follow any logical pattern. Some days one result, other days the other result. It would be perfect if increasing the dose could make the duration longer for Sid.
It looks like you went with 1.6 this last shot?

It's wonderful to see no reds or blacks today, for sure!
You can up the dose a bit, and use food to buffer the drop if you are going to be there to test, but I don't know of a way to "make" the dose last longer. It seems to be an "every cycle is different" thing with the cats that get long duration cycles. If BID can work, it sure would make you life less complicated, and as long as you can avoid the highs and lows extremes, make Sid feel better during the course of the day. Crossing my fingers for both of you.

Hi Carl,

Yes, he got a shot at 3:30 am 389 gave 1.6U PZ and .1UR
at 12:00 357 gave 1.6
at 10:00 292 gave 1.6

He was 192 at 9:00 and then ate about a tsp of food and his pills in pill pockets. That caused a food spike up to 292 so I gave him the shot at 10:00 pm.

I understand what you are saying about the increased dose and the variability it can cause. I will be home to test him tomorrow so tomorrow and Sunday would be the best days to try an increased dose.
I have no problem shooting TID if I thought it was best for him. But he has had several days TID where his numbers don't go low enough and stay low long enough. With Sid there appears to be a 3hour delay of onset, especially of the pre shot level is over 350. There have been exceptions to this on his SS but not many.

Hi Lydia,

I am curious to see what Sid's BG will be at 3am. It is great to see no mega high numbers, but the R has me confused to any true numbers. If you can catch Sid on his rise which maybe around 3, 4 or 5am this morning. I would stick with the 1.6 and just stay on top of things once that shot is due. If you do decide to lower his dose, I wouldn't go lower than 1.5, but I wish I knew what his low point is gonna be. IMHO, if it's not lower than 70 I'd stay at 1.6

Sending good vibes and I'll check back soon!

I was wondering which Pill Pockets you use, I think the only diabetic friendly one is the duck variety, maybe that is influencing his bg's.
