I know this is a feline forum, but...

A woman at Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center (LVRC), the clinic where Tawny got such good care, has a diabetic dog. She gets care for him at the clinic but would also like to join a support group like FDMB but for dogs.

Any of you know of the best one out there?

Any of you have experience w/diabetic dogs?

Do you know if people w/diabetic dogs who home test use human meters like most of us do for cats?

If so, how much difference is there in the accuracy of the #s? We know when using the human meters on the cats there is some, right?

I told her I'd put out a query here.

Thanks.

I don't know the address of the forum but I know there is several. I know they're tested using their lip and also use human meters but that's all I know right now. I THINK I need to check in on it too....it woke me out of a sound sleep last night when I realized that one of our older droolers drinks HUGE amounts of water and pees so much we affectionately call him 'pee head'. He's done it the whole 7 years of his life - I wonder? It would be about par for course to discover that he's diabetic also...giving me another new experience...
