I haven't been on here in a long time but today my hubby left 1/2 a bottle of Prozinc on the counter & I just found it 8hrs later :( Our air is set on 71 & it was dark so no light but I'm gonna guess its trash isn't it? Thanks for any help!!

I just linked this in the PZI forum. I never left my vial out, but I know others have. Don't assume it's trash till you hear from them...

I'm a ProZinc user. I have left mine out a couple of times. The longest being 5 hours. The other times were for a couple of hours. I am still on the same bottle.
I would keep using it unless you start to see a difference in BG numbers. For example the BG number not dropping.
Also, if you start to see floaters in the bottle. Then that is a sign its not any good.

Maybe you should let DH sweat a little bit over this one... ;-)

Good Luck!

I've left it out for about 4 hours, and saw no difference in its effectiveness.

I've seen others say it was out for 8-12, but it was still okay - provided it wasn't in extreme heat or direct sunlight. I'm sure they'll be chiming in soon!

I would stay with your regular dose next preshot (assuming numbers are normal), and see if there's any significant change in the numbers throughout the cycle.

I have left Prozinc out for 8 hours! I saw no difference in the effectiveness. I would not trash it! If you use it and it was compromised, you will see the numbers go up--you can trash it then. I really think it is fine!

I first started Blondie on PZI and used it for years and on several ocassions, I left it out for 8+ hours (twice overnight) and in the summer and it never pooped out.

Keep it and if you start to see the numbers rising for no apparent reason (no food change, or stressful screaming ride to the vet, that type of thing *sigh*) then and only then would I think the PZI no longer affective. And then you can trash it. But do try it and see that it's still viable. V

Seems like we're all saying the same thing. While ours has never been left out that long, my vet said as long as it still felt cool, it should be okay. We haven't seen any floaters in it and he's hypo'd on it a couple of times, so I'm guessin' it's still okay ;-)
