I'd say about 3-4 hrs--I usually set the feeder for 5-6 hrs after I add the food and it's definitely thawed by then. If I'm feeding within an hour or two, I usually don't freeze the food, and just put an ice pack in the feeder (mine has a compartment for one). If you don't have the ice pack compartment, you can just add a little water to keep it moist and it's fine.
I only freeze 1/2 a can at a time, though (1.5oz). I would expect a 3 oz portion to take a little longer, maybe 4-5 hrs.
And if Bandit does get his paws on a frozen portion of food, he just sits and licks at it until it's gone, like a cat food popsicle. That's why I had to get the feeder to begin with.
