Re: 8/13 Lucian AMPS 108

Well Lucian has just left Snoball behind in the dust!!! Way to go Lucian!!

Re: 8/13 Lucian AMPS 108,+4/117

I think Snoball is a little bouncy. Not bad, just a little. Most Sugarkitties are.

Wanna see bad?? look at Lucian's SS while on Lantus, prior to 7/22. He thought BLACK was an accessory to everything! :o He spent so much time over 600 I got used to the Meter Greeting (HI). I stayed stressed out for 7 months. The difference after switching to Lev is amazing. Now he has numbers like Snoball. When he bounces it's only to 250-300 instead of 600+ and only lasts for a matter of hours instead of days.

I'm still hoping for improvement/reductions, but if he stays where he is, I'm good with that. If he can stay below renal threshold, I'm happy, knowing his organs are safe from damage. With what we've been through, I don't entertain the idea of him ever going OTJ. As long as he's healthy and happy, I"m good. :thumbup

Although he still bounces, the difference on the Lev is astronomical!

I feel he actually has a chance at getting to the point of NOT bouncing eventually. Would have never said that a few months ago. :o

I am so lovin' the way he responds to the Lev!

I feel the same way about Snoball. I suspect he was diabetic long before he was diagnosed and he is nine years old. So we are rootin' for regulation. Wow, I cannot believe you went through such a dark period with all those blacks. Good golly, the stress.... I probably wouldn't have any hair left.

Nice job, Debbie!

Hair? what's that? confused_cat

Seriously, I can't tell you how relieved I am since switching him to Lev and the changes in his numbers.

Oh and Lucian is 15 now and it wasn't until I noticed his weight loss, in Jan, that I realized something was wrong. I worked all the time and just didn't notice. So he could have been diabetic for a long time before he was DX'd. Working sh*t jobs, I had no $$ for a Vet, he hadn't been in about 3 years, none of them had. The other 2 still haven't, but I'm trying to get by on Worker's Comp and still take care of Lucian. Fortunately, they have always been healthy. As soon as I have the $$ they are all going. Hopefully sometime after the first of the year.

Vet bills scare the dickens out of me too. I don't go. I once spent all of my rent for a wrong diagnosis that eventually killed my cat. Diagnosed on Christmas eve and gone by New Year's day -- I don't do vets. I just moved here and there are vets on every corner and I only go to the one that the rescue agency gets a discount for and that's for an insulin prescription. This is why I snatched up the dry food and threw it in the trash (they went cold turkey) and I dealt with a lot of bad behavior for a while and then started making raw. I want to keep them out of the vet's office and that's where they were headed. I am certain my 13 year old has IBD but I don't want to put her through a lot of medicines and trauma. The new diet seems to have calmed her stomach down. She no longer upchucks fur and water on a daily basis.

Worker's Comp is only manageable because of your fur-babies. I would be lost without mine. Their unconditional love and instinctive comfort is medicine for my soul. Oh, and then Snoball came to me in May because I went on an FB page where they were looking for someone who lived near this certain vet and I raised my hand. I had no idea what I was getting in to but this cat and rescuer came in and taught me how to shoot and test and other tricks and boom my whole life changed with a cat I barely knew.

Sorry to be wordy. I think you said you had a physical type job and can't lift things anymore. Sounds like a back illness. Sorry if I missed that explanation. Ugh... at least you are home to get mid-cycle tests.

Yeah, knowing I'm all they have to care for them, keeps me sane.

I have a laundry list of medical issues, waiting on full disability now. Hopefully sometime in the next year. I try not to dwell on it, it's too stressful. Like a 12 step program, 1 day at a time. :-D

Sure like the blues and greens today. :thumbup

I'm so jealous. Gonna have that talk with Sno about Lucian now. Bounces are great though when they are not above yellow. Sorry about your health issues. I am here if you need to vent.
