Yesterday morning, after Michelangelo's AMPS and shot, he had a very squirty, small gray stool that got all stuck to his fur bloomers and I had to wipe him like a baby. :o Then, he vomited white foam and wouldn't eat at all yesterday no matter how much I tried to entice him. Other than that, he seemed fine, so I'm fairly certain it was just a hairball wrecking some havoc on his body. I gave him a little bit of pepcid last night in case his stomach was upset (didn't make any difference) and decided to take him into the vet today if he didn't start eating again. Luckily, he started eating again around midnight.

His appetite was still not fully back this morning so I only gave him 1u, but now he seems to be eating his normal amount so I'll probably go for his regular full 2u again tonight.

Good thing he started eating again. White foam is never good. :o

With mine it seems like hairballs make em more hungry. They pig out before to barf it all up and are ready to eat again (fresh food) right after. Luckily that works out for Chip when he has a hairball and I need to steer with carbs :?

Could this be related to food intolerance?

Mikey's numbers look really good for having a hairball. I would kill for those numbers....

Re: 12/9 Michelangelo AMPS 140, +5/102, +8/128

The white foam was more yakked up than puked up, which is what made me think it was a furball from the start. (I recognize this sign from my previous cats.) They're both so young still that I've yet to see either of them cough up a hairball even though they're both long-haired. I still haven't seen Mikey's "finished product" either from the front or the back end, so maybe they're doing it in the grass? There's no way I'm gonna ask my brother to inspect the "poop" he sometimes cleans up from the backyard to check if it's actually a furball instead. :o

And the only reason why his numbers look great is because yesterday, he was on the "Supermodel 0 carb diet" aka "not eating." ;-)

I gave him another 1u tonight. I guess he's still not eating with his normal gusto just yet (or it hasn't caught up in his numbers yet). He's active, playful, etc.... Just not interested in food. Henry seems to be just as disinterested so I'm holding back judgment till I get them a new batch of food made (maybe there's something wrong with this can, maybe it's the cold weather? :?: ).

So you do that guessing game too, huh? maybe it's the cold? maybe it's the food? I've been doing that for weeks, that's why I made a vet appt,. I'm tired of guessing. I WILL find out why, after doing beautifully for months, his numbers went all whacky a few weeks ago.

Supermodel diet? Maybe I need to try that on Lucian. Sure makes for nice numbers though.

Yeah, Mikey is still not eating enough last night or today. I had to prop him up with syringe-fulls of food all night long because of that 1u I shot him. He was still something like 64 this morning. I was 4 hours late to work this morning, too. :YMSIGH: Hence the reason no new post and no new numbers: I forgot his BG booklet on my rush to get out the door.

He did have a tiny snack this morning around his regular shot time (which I skipped), but I have a feeling I'm gonna have to syringe-feed him some more tonight. I'm also a little worried about Henry because he doesn't seem to be eating as much either. I'm so flat broke right now that if I do have to take either of them into the vet, it's gonna have to wait till Friday (payday) or I'm gonna have to do some fast talking with my vet to allow me to skip payment till Friday (which they'll probably do for me because they've done similar in the past).

I can relate. Lucian's Vet is willing to let me make payments, that's the only way I can take him, I sure don't have the money.

Ditto here too, the only way Casey got in was to put it on our account. I'm probably putting my vet's kids through college and medical school. lol

He seems a little better tonight with a 110. Never thought I'd be happy to see a higher number, but in this case, it means he did eat something, otherwise his numbers don't budge. He's truly a carbs in = BGs up type of cat; no working pancreas in this young tyke. AND! When I got home from work, he ate a tiny bit of leftover breakfast that neither he nor Henry had noticeably touched since this morning. Maybe he'd eat more if it's fresh. Maybe he'd eat more if it were warmer weather. Maybe, maybe, maybe.... :YMSIGH:

4 of his 5Ps are good; he's just lacking on the pooping front, which makes me think this might still be a difficult hairball or another bout of colitis. (Well, technically 3 of his 4Ps since he doesn't purr.)

He must be a *stealth* purrer?

I'm not so sure it might not be pancreas that actually keeps the numbers so seemingly stable in spite of these disruptions of dose, food, etc?

What I was meaning is that if he doesn't have food coming in, he has nothing to elevate his BGs, which is why he needs less insulin. He just tested at 141 for his PMPS, so I think I'm going to give him a .5u tonight (the 1u kept me up till 3 in the morning syringe feeding him every hour). If he is eating more today (as his numbers seem to show and his munching when I came home from work), I'll just have to be prepared that we've broken our current low numbers streak. At least that's easier to deal with than him not eating.

Okay, I take it back. I gave him 1u again because he went right over to his PM food and started eating as if he hasn't had any appetite problems these last few days. I hope it's not another late night!

Yep, and he just went back for seconds. Still trying to get Henry to eat. He just walked over to the food dish, backed away, and ran off outside and over the fence again. Definitely thinking it's a shared bug now.
