Called the vet this morning and they said to bring Jupiter in at 2:45 pm (thats about 1hr 45 mins from now). He is going to the vet today instead of waiting until his scheduled appt tomorrow because the wrapping on his foot is like sliding down. It was almost exposing the area where the bump was removed, so we talked to an oncall vet last night who said to try to wrap it or tape it (wrap it over the old wrap to help it stay up and help it stay covered even if the other wrap falls down more) to stay up until tomorrow then try to take Jupiter in tomorrow. Since then the wrapping has fallen down even more (I could see a stitch) - I tried to pull it back up but didnt do a very good job at that because I was scared and didnt want to hurt him. He was chewing on the wrap I put on - so had to change it like 3 times now. I am worried about it getting an infection because the vet said she wanted it to be kept wrapped because there is a gap there. she said she couldnt stretch the skin far enough to stitch it closed the whole way so it needs to be wrapped. I am hoping they will rewrap the area and also show me how to change the wrap. Jupiter did not mess with the wrap and didnt seem to mind it too much the first 2 days, but then it smelled like urine... and since then he is acting like he really doesnt like it - I dont blame him though!

He has been out and about yesterday and today. He doesnt act like hes in pain or anything. His appetite is not great, but its decent.

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

Good that you'll be able to get the wrap redone today!

Have you had to give pain meds? And is he getting his prozac?

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

I havent given any pain meds. He hid a lot the day after surgery... but he didnt have his prozac the day of surgery and I also forgot to give him the prozac the day after surgery.

I started giving him the prozac again and since then he is out and about and eating.

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

Sending good vetty vines. I'm glad to hear he's out, eating a bit, and starting to feel better!

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

I hope the vet visit goes well, the incision is healing, and they teach you how to rewrap the bandage.
I'm also sending good transport vines to the vet and back.

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

Hi Jamie. Glad you were able to get Jupiter's vet appointment moved up to today. Hopefully you discovered the wrap had slipped before any foreign debris got in. Maybe the vet can give you a neck cone like Marje suggested the other day. That would prevent him fom getting at it.

Good luck with the visit. Have a great day.

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

Oh, Jupiter! You peed on your own foot??? :o Bob actually does that quite often and I can't really figure out why. He comes out of the litter box shaking one foot and I have to chase him down and wash his foot (which he just loves of course). Crazy cats!!!

Glad he seems to be doing a little better.

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

WE ARE BACK FROM THE VET!

They changed the wrap. They said the wrapping wasnt too soiled or anything - that he probably just stepped in the pee in the litter box (which I already knew :-D )

They took him back to do it and I asked if I could speak to the vet but they said I had to tell them and they would discuss it with vet and let me know.

I asked if the wrap starts to fall off can I put a new one on... they said no because they put medication on the bandage... they said I can put more wrap around the old wrap to keep it on until I take him there to get it changed.

He has an appointment friday at 9:30am. They said they should have the results of the biopsy by then.

If the results are negative and its benign they will do the laser treatment (a vet tech will do the treatment that same day) to help it heal

I asked if the results are malignant, am I going to be able to discuss that with a vet? They said the vet will be there that day and that I could discuss the results with vet if needed.

Now I trying to stay positive and I really hope its benign and the laser treatment heals it and no more problems.... but if it is malignant, I really hope the vet will talk to me and not try talking through the vet techs, or I am going to be rude and demand to talk to the vet. Lets hope that doesnt need to happen though.

His new wrap is blue this time :-D :-D :-D :-D MY favorite color and a good color for my baby boy, unlike the pink wrap last time!!

Re: 7/22 Jupiter AMBG/61 --vet today

positive thoughts for biopsy.

only a real man can wear pink and pull it off and I think jupe did just that

We do have a cone for Jupiter... he didnt seem to mind it until it smelled like pee... and the cone is like... ugh... thats going to be last resort! I think the new wrap he will leave alone.. he was only trying to get off the old one cause it smelled so bad.

thank you all for the visits today!!

and yes Dian I think you are right

More vines and positive thoughts on the way tonight. You certainly should be able to talk to the vet: you are paying her to work for you!

Good luck on Friday. I hope all will go well.

Great report and extra strong vines for a benign test!!!

Glad the prozac is allowing him to feel better and I hope he's picked up on the eating.

Glad to hear all went well at the vet and he's feeling a little better after the prozac, and he has a new blue fancy clean wrap
Sending you and Jupiter good results vines :YMHUG:

Can you get a baby or child size sock and cover his paw/wrap with that? it may help to keep the wrap on and if he does step in pee again, hopefully only the sock gets it..

of course it all depends on whethr he will keep it on
