Yesterday's condo

Miss China perched majestically on my chest purring her heart out this morning to wake me up for her breffis....If I have to have an alarm, I like this one the best!!

China ate her usual PMPS meal (about 1/2 can) and about 15 minutes later puked up all of it. It wasn't just regurgitated...much more "liquid".....then she went straight to the other cats bowls looking for more food, so I fed her about 1/4 can..and about 15 minute later, the same thing happened.

For now, I'm not feeding her anymore, but since she's got insulin on board, I'm worried about what to do with her at this point.

Any idea's?

Do you have any Pepsid in the house? If so, I'd think about giving her 1/4 of a 10 mg tablet of Pepsid AC (famotidine). Hopefully, that will settle her stomach. I'd give it 30 or so minutes to work. See if she'll eat without puking after that. If she can't keep food down, you may need to think about an ER visit for an anti-emetic.

OK...thanks Sienne. I bought some Zantac when we first started this adventure but had forgotten about it. I'll go get it and try to get it down her. Unfortunately, living where I do, getting ER treatment on a Sunday night could mean a 90 minute drive :cry:

well, how is she doing?

Did you get her to eat? Did she keep it down?

Did you give the medicine? How did you give it?

I hate cat puke Days! :evil: And I am sure they don't like 'em either!!

Oh I hope china is ok, i think older i get worse I hate the puking thing, Taz makes himself pule he goes and licks fuzz comes in and looks at me and pukes. YUCK

Yes!! Got the Zantac down her (I have a pill splitter and a pill gun....best few dollars I ever spent) and got it down her at about +1.3 and then waited until +2 and only gave her 2 teaspoons. She kept it down for an hour, so just gave her another 2 teaspoons.

She still seems hungry, but I'm going to stick to small meals even though it's not her "usual" schedule. I'd rather keep the food in her and worry about her BG later

Do you think China is eating too quickly? I had that problem with my cat, Pumpkin. Every time he would eat canned food, he would throw up. I started using a bigger plate and spreading the canned food out really thin so he couldn't eat too quickly. He hasn't thrown up since!

No, she's "scarfed and barfed" in the past, but that usually happens within 5 minutes or so and is pretty much in the same shape it was going down....when she does this, it's 15 mins or so later and is obviously starting to be digested since it's more liquid. I just this second think I put 2 and 2 together! The zantac is what's used in people with too much acid..maybe part of what's going on is she has too much acid in her tummy...that would explain why it's more digested than you'd think it'd be that quickly, as well as why the zantac seems to have helped?

Well...it's a theory..kind of like when they tell us if you give "A" insulin at "X" time, their BG should go down by "B" :lol: :lol:

If it works, I don't really need to know why though...as long as she has been able to keep some food down after her shot, I'm happy!

Thanks for the advice and the vines everyone!! Will set the alarm and grab a test later...just to make sure she doesn't keep falling too far!
