I was hoping to post a more detailed explanation of the oncologist appt yesterday but havent gotten the chance quite yet. Today was Jupiters appt with the vet to do a recheck on his wound.

After the surgery last monday on 8/5/13 the wound was 3cm by 2 & 1/2cm
Today (8/13/13) the wound measures 2cm by 1 & 1/2 cm

SO THAT IS GREAT NEWS!!!

Its reduced in size a cm each way. Vet said its looking good. He had to scrape off a little more granulation tissue today but otherwise he is very happy with the progress in the healing so far.

We have another appointment with him in 1 week from today so he can check it and see the progress.

Until then, we will change bandage at home every other day and we will continue the dermalone ointment.

Thank you all so much for your support, kindness, vines, and prayers for Jupe.

Thinking of Kat & Gobbles today. Hoping and praying for good news - that the bump is nothing serious

If it were square (its more of an ellipse)

3 cm * 2 cm = 6 square cm
Vs
2 cm * 1 cm = 2 sqare cm

The area difference is as much as 6 square cm vs 2 square cm.
That's a reduction of as much as 4 square cm.

Wow Jamie! That is REALLY amazing and a testament to both the skill of your new vet, and the incredible care you give to Jupe!!

I don't think anyone would have expected it to reduce by that much in a week....That really is a lot of progress!!

Keep up the good work...You're really both doing incredible!!

woo hoo! Making progress! Praying that heals really fast so you can move on with his treatment from the Oncologist. Good job Jamie!

Awesome news to hear that it is getting smaller go Jupe, hope you guys are feeling better about all this now.

Yay Jupiter didnt get his bandage off last night!! I put some extra tape on it last night before bed to help make sure it wouldnt come off... Once again, I took the cone off to let him eat in the middle of the night and must have dozed off for a few minutes. When I woke up his cone was off, and it looks like he bit the top of the bandage where the tape is... but he didnt get it off - it didnt even slide down any! Looks good and intact! Sooooo glad I put the extra tape on last night.

I am having a VERY hard time getting him to eat anything besides seafood flavors. Hes always preferred seafood, but it just keeps getting worse and I can rarely get him to eat any of the meat flavors. Any suggestions?

The healing of his leg is great news! Yay Jupe.

How about mixing a spoon of another flavor in with the seafood. And over time add more and more of the other flavor to the seafood, so it becomes 50/50 then 60/40/ then 70/30, etc.

Yeah for healing on Jupe's foot!

Have Jupiter pull up a chair, and rest his feet for a bit.

That's wonderful news that Jupiter's wound is smaller. That's great he didn't get the bandage off last night. Sending prayers to you and Jupiter.

Very happy to hear Jupiter is beginning to be on the road to recovery!
