Morning.
Shadow ate most of her food serving last night by midnight and I picked it up around 12:30am. She was in bed with me ( yay!) so I know she wasn't eating.
I also washed her urine reservoir in her litter box and used bleach wipes on it so I might get a urine sample. Got lucky and she peed right after I went to bed so I jumped up and put it in a container.
They just like to check other stuff.... not worried about something like a uti where we would need that sterile sample.

The vet checked her all over, didn't feel anything in the abdomen, her anal glands were full so those got expressed with much difficulty ( and I have a nice cat bite from it - cleaning that up now)
took a blood draw for a senior panel. ( fasted since midnight so 9 hour fast)
talked about appetite and going to get the one - Mirtz......... , can't think of the whole name at the moment.... but it addresses both nausea and appetite stimulant.
She did have a funny spur next to her nail .... like a callous , looked like when Lucy? had a paw pad get all hard and fall off.
We will be watching that...

And opportunity knocks for next Friday..... a week and a half..... to get an ultrasound. The guy will be here and I do get to be there the whole time.
Came home... fed her and she ate all of it. ( yay!)

bbl, gotta go to work for 1 hour and go back to pick up Mirtz stuff and pay bill.

Hi Rhiannon. Sounds like Shadow did well at the vets. Sending lots of good test results vines Shadow's way.

Take care of bite. Have a great day.

Sending good appy vines for Shadow. Feel better soon little one. Are they doing a test for pancreatitis? That seems to be happening a lot lately.

Mirtazapine can make some cate very agitated, beans call it Meowzapine. It's actually an anti-psychotic drug and just has a side effect of stimulation appy.

I'm glad Shadow did good at the vet. I hope you get good test results back. Hopefully your cat bite will heal quickly.

Hey Rhiannon - glad they didn't find anything serious today. Hoping the ultrasound goes well. Does your vet not have one in the office?

Just FYI - I gave the Mirtazapine to Bob one night and it made him VERY agitated. It would have been funny had it not been the middle of the night. He literally walked all over my body at 20 minute intervals and meowed very loudly - that is soooo not like him. I've seen several people on here that use "cypro" - not sure of the entire name and not exactly what it treats, but it's supposed to increase appetite and they didn't seem to have the same problem. If Shadow acts goofy on the Mirtazapine, maybe you could try the cypro. Just a thought.

I actually asked about the Cyproheptadine and ondansetron combo instead.
They don't have the cypro in stock.....

since Shadow seems sensitive to heavy drugs, ( very negative reaction to pain meds) I may just ask her for a prescription instead.
I can try the mirtz one once and see how she reacts while I wait for the other to get delivered.

Shadow just ate 2nd breffis and is happily bathing on her tall tower hiding in the bedroom.
She always loves her homecoming.

9 days until a belly shave.... pics will come.

We didn't do the pancreatitis test since we had just done it last May.
ultrasound will be over $350, today was probably $350 ....
I'm broke.
If she continues to feel bad, I'll do it.
I feel like she's feeling better today but she always feels better after a vetty visit.
It gives her perspective. ;-)

OVerall, it sounds like a decent vetty visit. I hope Shadow continues to feel better, and sending good BW vines your way!!!

since we've come home.... she has eaten 5 times.... 1/4 of a fancy feast can approximately each time....
Paws crossed that continues.

my bite started swelling.... on the end of my thumb and I decided to go ahead and try to get in to the dr.
and I did. bit achy too and a bit up my wrist.
So I am on 2 antibiotics now, I'm allergic to all the good ones for treating cat bites.
Hope I don't become allergic to another one. ( I have 3 bad ones now)
And I have to go back on Friday, get re-checked. :YMSIGH:

I already left word with the receptionist at vet that I'd rather have the cypro and ondansetron.
She looked up the dose and it didn't sound like the amount I've seen here on site.
I'll let everyone know so you can tell me if the vet is giving us too much.

Quite an eventful day for you and Shadow! Take care of that infection. Good to hear that Shadow is eating.

Have an uneventful evening!

Vines on the way,

Ella & Rusty

punkin did ok on the mirtz. it varies from cat to cat.

hope little shadow gets an appy and your bite resolves without a problem. my sympathies on the AB issue - that makes it hard.

Sorry about the bite :? I hope it gets better soon. I'll be looking for the shaved belly pics  I hope Shadow continues to eat for you, sending appy vines:)

Hi Rhiannon,
I am so happy to hear that Shadow seems to be feeling better and eating well!
