HAPPY THURSDAY (I think)!!

Hershey is doing well, seeing lots of blues and a diving into low greens here and there. I'm thinking the blues, etc, are often a bounce from the lower greens. We're dancing back and forth between .4u and .5u. If he gives another lower green in the next couple of cycles, I'm going to shave a little more instead of waiting for the third drop like we usually do, since we'll be gone most of Saturday for Sammy's FIRST birthday party!! Hershey seems to be feeling great, not eating some days, but I think we've discovered he doesn't like this case of Wellness Chicken. Once we started mixing it with the Turkey he eats it. I DO wish they'd get their food consistent, again!

QUESTION: A few weeks ago, we noticed a smell in our bedroom. We discovered some of Doug's clothes had been peed on! Doug was LIVID, but since this never happens and we didn't know when/who, we let it go. Doug is insistent it's Oreo and honestly, we had a problem with him before he was fixed, so maybe. But, he's almost 7 years old, so why now? We've never seen anything like that from Hershey, and considering where the clothes were in the bedroom, it doesn't seem likely it was him. Tonight, Doug comes home and informs me that when he got his bag to work and opened it - SURPRISE! It had been peed in!! Hershey never messes with Doug's bag, Oreo does, so, again...Oreo? But, why now? AND - when I sort our clothes, I leave the piles on the floor in the order I'm going to wash them. Neither kitty pees on them then. So - Doug's wondering if this is Oreo's way of saying he doesn't like Doug...I wish I could catch the culprit (and he better hope it's me that catches him instead of Doug!) to be positive it's Oreo. But, again, why now and why only twice in a few weeks? It seems if it was a medical problem it would happen more often...ANY thoughts?

Thank you for visiting us and for trying to help us figure this out!!

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Either it's a marking his territory thing, he's mad about something, or UTI. I would watch him when he goes to see if there's some blood in his urine, and get him to the vet either way to make sure. Another thing, and if possible have the vet perform a urinalysis on Oreo to rule out any problems including infections.

Sending tons of positive thoughts for Oreo.

Hello!!! It's so nice to see you. :-D Has anything else in your house changed: new noises, visitors, etc? If not, I would definitely suspect a UTI. Tarragon does that when he has one.

While you work on figuring out who, perhaps a few inexpensive tarps over things left sitting on the floor, or some plastic containers for those things would help.

Hey, Angela - I haven't seen any blood in his urine. I was wondering about the marking his territory; as far as males in the house, he's 4 of 4 - bless his heart! But, he's almost 7 years old and hasn't done it since he was fixed as a kitten. Would he restart?

Hey, Melissa - I've been trying to think of changes around here...Joseph moved back in May, so he should be over that. Jessica has been busier with homework (and she's his favorite) so less time for him. We do have a mama and 3 kittens who have taken up in the backyard. He watches them out the window, but his tail doesn't inflate like when he's irritated.

Hey, BJ - I may look into getting some tarps and I'm nagging extra hard to get people to clean up tempting things like clothes.

***I'm guessin' I just need to get him/them to the vet, but it can't happen until at least next week. :YMSIGH: Never had a kitty with a UTI. Shouldn't he have gone inappropriately more than twice in the last few weeks? And, what can I do to prevent UTI's? He only eats Friskies Pate' + water. And, is it normal for him to target one person or is it just coincidence?

THANK Y'ALL, again, for coming over and for your assistance!!!!

Well, he gave us the 2nd drop. AMPS will be .3u. Will hold through the weekend and see how he likes it.

That might be a reason? He might know how much of a softy you are, and see the new neighbors as a threat?

I know a kitty who did that. Before I got married, when Paula lived next door with Boots, she shared the house at times with one of her girlfriends. Boots, for whatever reason, hated that girlfriend. Her way of displaying that? When clothes were taken out of the dryer and stacked to be put away, Boots would pee on the girl's clothes. Never anywhere else, never on Paula's clothes. Only on her girlfriends fresh laundry.

I don't think it's a "hate" thing with Oreo and Doug. But I think (no matter which kitty it is), somebody is trying to tell Doug specifically something. Has Doug been absent more than usual lately? Or spending less time around Oreo? Maybe it's "I love you and miss you Dad, here's something to remember me when you aren't home"?
