Still using the vial. I thought it might be going south, then I got some greens. So I kept using it. Yesterday we were in yellow and high blues. Use the vial this AM and will see how today looks. Maybe the yellow was a bounce...if not, the pen is in a cup in the fridge since I took it out the box in prep for the switch.

Question on the pen...do I need to keep it upright? is it better to keep it in a cup than just laying in the back of the fridge?

Salem has had mucous poo for the past 2 days...with them being small single blobs :( I am giving him today to get himself straightened out before a vet visit. He otherwise seem fine. Purring, snuggle and eating. I mixed his CORE dry with some Blue Wilderness dry. I have it up high on the cat tree where MDK cannot climb. Sprinkled it with some Gentle digest and will hope for a better poo day for him.

Now off to work.

Re: 10/2 Izzy amps 197

Hi guys .. nice blue this morning izzy! We always used the pens and we always kept them in the box laying flat .. we actually kept them in a drawer in our fridge .. probably not the best place for them but they were in there by themselves .. I didn't want to risk putting them on a shelf in the fridge and have something fall on them or get knocked off or anything like that .. Fingers crossed for a better poo day izzy! Have a great day guys!

Hi, Janet, I hope Salem had a better poo day today.
I also store my pen flat, no issues.
Hope Izzy surfed those blues and greens today!

Thanks. I am going to put the pen in a cut to keep it from getting banged around and to remove it from the box so I won't be pulling all them out every time I want to use it.

i stored mine flat in the deli/vegetable drawer of the fridge. i don't think it matters if it's flat or upright. i also didn't keep it in the box once i'd started using it. the new unopened ones were in the box in the back of the same drawer.

mucous is the gut's way of responding to something irritating it. i'm not familiar with salem, but have had a couple of cats that had mucous at times. my civvie, anya, had constant diarrhea and mucous when we got her as a kitten and it finally ended after she was on canned food for a while. then she grew - she was really small but when her intestines healed she started growing normally (like after she was a year old) and she has ended up regular size. i would look at the food Salem's eating and see if you can figure out if it has much ash in it. that's especially hard on them and it's added as fiber. go figure - what cat eats ash in the wild?
