10/29/13 Monet AMPS 182 PMBG 130

Good Morning everyone !

Monet's BG was up some this morning prior to eating (182) so I did give him .5 of a unit. We wanted to give him less than .5 (.25), but on our syringe we just could not see any less than .5. The ones we have do not have the 1/2 measurement, so I think we need to get different ones??? I am already at work, so will not be able to test again until tonight around 5:30 pm (EST).

This is the first insulin Monet has had since Sat evening(Oct 26) when he received .5 of a unit.
He is acting totally normal this morning . . . all 4 P's are in place.

You can try feeding at +9 both in the day +9 and the night +9 to try to bring the PS numbers down.
Your DH will be around to monitor and feed today, I assume?

Rise, you need to get some 3/10cc, half unit marked, 30 or 31gauge, 5/16" or 1/2" needle syringes. They're available at WalMart (as well as any pharmacy), but you have to specifically ask for them and a lot of times we've heard that pharmacists say they don't make them....Well, they do but they may not be available everywhere. They have an orange cap.

Dyana, My Husband is home today so yes he can feed and watch Monet for me ....thank goodness!
I will tell him to feed him around the +9 hour. We have been feeding 2 regular meals ( prior to insulin time) a day and then 2 tiny meals ( about 1 tbsp.) so the kitties currently were getting some food about every 4 to 6 hours during the day.

Rise, it depends on where you live. Most people don't need a prescription for syringes, but some states require them. Easiest way to find out would be to call a pharmacy and ask them if a prescription is required for insulin syringes.
