Re: 11/12 Clyde AMPS 112 +1 102

Morning Will ~O) ~O) ~O)

Another great start for Clyde today. I love his numbers, always good. You surf well today Clyde. :-D

Wet and cold and raining here too. I guess we can be glad that it is rain and not that white stuff.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Re: 11/12 Clyde AMPS 112 +1 102

I know, it's too early to be thinking about the white stuff. Weather channel is reporting that there are some places nearby that are reporting the white stuff.

Max & Clyde have asked me to put an order into Paw Prints Pizza for their famous triple tuna pie with a side of tuna water since it is TUNA Tuesday.

The last couple of cycles, I've noticed the Clyde's PS values were trending upwards slightly. Nothing major - maybe 5-10 points and with the .1u of insulin they start to drop at the +1 so he has a nice green surf for the vast majority of his cycle.

Other then keeping an eye on it, is this something I should be overly concerned about or just chalk it up to the allowed variance in the meter? I'm not considering changing his dose either way right now, .25u was clearly too much and .1u appears to be doing the job pretty well.

At +1 tonight he's down to 90. No snow today but it feels cold today, at least compared to the weather we've been having the last couple of weeks. Right now, Max and Clyde have the right idea. Max is curled up under the covers and Clyde is curled up on top of the covers next to him.

Re: 11/12 Clyde AMPS 112 +1 102 PMPS 115 +1 90

We had some snow yesterday. I was not amused.

One suggestion would be to see about giving Clyde a small amount of food at around +9. This should stimulate his pancreas to produce it's own insulin and bring the pre-shot numbers down. I'd think about a timed feeder since personally, I wouldn't want to wake up at PM +9 to feed the cat!

Wow! What a great looking SS...looks like Clyde's on his way to, well, you know.... *anti jinx*

Re: 11/12 Clyde AMPS 112 +1 102 PMPS 115 +1 90

I've been looking at the Petsafe 5-compartment feeder. Does anyone have any experience with it or can make a recommendation?

I have this horrible feeling I'm going to end up needing two of them...one for each cat. If I only get one and set it to put food down out at +9, there is a high probability Max will get to it first and eat all of it defeating the purpose of putting food out for Clyde

He was just feed 3 hours ago and is crying right now for more food. He came running when he heard pick up the bag of cat treats for Clyde's +3 test. I figured since he's here and he wants to be involved and keeps getting in the way, I might as well try to test him once.

I don't think Max really wants to be tested. He bolted from the bed and isn't too happy with me right now after pricking his ear.

The biggest complaint I've seen with the automatic feeders is that a determined cat tends to figure out how to open them. (I think Max would fall into that category.) I can do foodsicles but how do you figure out if he just ate before shooting?

Anyway, Clyde's +3 was 67.

Thank you. I'm hoping we can bring him in for a nice soft landing in the near future at the place that must not be named *anti jinx* :-D .

Re: 11/12 Clyde AMPS 112 +1 102 PMPS 115 +1 90

Hi - I had the 5 compartment feeder, and it worked well for us and Mannie. I had two other cats at the time, and only one tried to beat Mannie to the food. That was hit or miss. Since Mannie was a mr hoover, he'd eat when it opened, and none was left, so I never had to worry about his eating before shot time. We did after a while have issues with Mannie simply not using the feeder any more. I never could quite figure out why that was. anyuwyas - the 5 compartment feeder worked well for us, and it proved to be cat proof: they couldn't open it.

I know the feeling...except in my case Max, the civvie is Mr. Hoover. :-D

I hadn't bought cat treats for years up until Clyde was diagnosed. The last time I bought them, Max figured out how to open the container and one day when I got home I found an open container, a few treats left on the floor, and Max standing in the middle of it hungrily eating whatever treats he could get his paws on as fast as he could.

Fortunately, he hasn't figured out how to open a desk draw...yet :-D

what a nice surf clyde does. way to go little guy! teach all the other kitters how to do it.

we had that same Petsafe 5 compartment feeder - loved it. if you look at reviews, you'll see the main complaint is that it didn't open all the way. the cover stays fixed with the front cover area open. the 5 compartment tray rotates underneath.

what i found was that if you made certain the tray was seated all the way, it always worked. we would take out the tray to wash and fill it, then put it back into the base unit. there is a button to make the tray rotate one compartment ahead. we seated it so that we could press the button and rotate it to make certain it was all the way down into the base. as long as we did that it was awesome. punkin was such a hoover (he had acromegaly) that there was no issue of our other cat getting to the food first.

clyde is looking great. keep it up!

you know, lots of cats start to hide or pull away from tests and shots just before they go OTJ. Lucy did. It's like they know they don't need that stuff anymore. Just sayin'. ;-)
