Yesterday's condo

For some reason, China's not eating today...she ate less than her normal meal at AMPS, and then after I got her +2, I had to leave to take mom to get her staples out (more on that later). When I finally got home, she's at 64 and still isn't much interested in eating. She's not showing signs of nausea, but I sure don't know what to think...it's so out of the ordinary for her and of course, I'm worried

I'm especially concerned that due to circumstances beyond my control, I wasn't able to test her mid-cycle and she's down to 64 (or is it UP to 64?) at +9.5

Any ideas welcome!!

Mom was re-admitted to the hospital today which is why I'm so late. The staples came out quickly and without any problems (she said she hardly felt them..probably because the nerves were cut and haven't had time to regenerate yet) but I was happy it didn't hurt her. The nurse seemed concerned that she was on oxygen when she hadn't needed it when she left the hospital so when the doctor saw her, he sent her to the lab for some more blood work and to x-ray for a chest film. The bloodwork showed elevated creatinine levels and the x-ray showed she had pleural effusion ....but it was the fact that she was on 2 liters of oxygen and her pulse ox was only 88 that was the last straw. He's worried about her kidney function, as well as concerned she's in heart failure again, and this afternoon or evening, he's going to do a thoracentesis to remove some of the water off of her lungs.

The cardiologist will also be seeing her and they're doing an ultrasound this afternoon/evening too. After everything she's been through already, having to be admitted again so soon has been really hard on her. She was trying so hard not to cry, but I know she wanted to.

I know how hard it is with the appy issues. I'm doing that with mine too. Ever so often, I'll give mine one of the higher ones (like a 10%) .... ( just a nudge above normal since it will make her not want to eat the ones she is supposed to eat)

And it makes me feel like sometimes it's just the food fatigue when she is willing to eat it.


Send me your address in a pm. I can give you a sample of a treat to crumble on her food.... see if it sparks her interest.

Chris, so sorry that China is having appy issues when you are already so worried about your mom. Have you tried a little baby food? When Cinco is boarded, he often won't eat. They put a little chicken baby food in his dish and he always eats that. Sometimes they put it on top of his regular food and once he gets started he keeps eating. Praying for you all to have a better day tomorrow.

Oh Chris! My heart goes out to your Mom, poor soul. How very frustrating and sad for her to have to go back into the hospital. She was sounding like she was just finally getting settled in, and now this. Hugs and vines to her for a speedy 'get back home'.

China, please eat your fuds for mama! She is so needing a worry break.

She's still only licking a little and then leaving the rest. Don't know why she's not eating today! Of course the civvies think it's great because they're more than happy to clean up what she leaves.

Tricia, thank you for the idea! I had totally forgotten that I did buy a couple of jars of baby food "for emergencies" so I'll try that next. Hopefully she'll like it and eat more than just a lick or two

No eating can keep her numbers down. Can you finger or syringe feed her? Does she act nauseous?
