Last Night:
HI PMPS (TOR)
435 +2
417 +3
439 +5.75
517 +10.25

J.D. ate about 1/4 can FF Kitten, and then 1/8 can, and then went for a medium sized walk. I syringed about 1/4 can of MaxCal last night before we went to bed.
He wasn't as traumatized by the syringe feeding last night and instead of hiding in the linen closet like he did the night before, he crawled into bed with me and slept across my head.

This morning his fur felt soft, but he's still high.
He acted hungry when I gave him his 1st Breffis. I mixed 1/8 tsp. Miralax with some water and added that to the 1/4 can of FF Chunky Turkey. He drank the water (which is good, since he hasn't gone poo since Tuesday).

He just ate some baby food beef with broth, and I will keep giving him that, and hope to get a jar full into him before I leave for work.

I am so glad it is Friday, and I have a 3 day weekend coming up.

Please send eating and poo vines to J.D. I appreciate all your vines, and hope you will keep them coming.

Thanks :)

Re: 01/17 J.D. AMPS 569

Hey JD and Dyana!

I know how you feel about how wonderful it is to receive healing vines from everybody. It can really keep a person going. I hope JD regains his appetite and his delish meal nourishes him and then comes out in a glorious well formed turd! Sorry if that is a little crude, but sometimes "humor" is the best medicine.

I hope JD and Ole get off and stay off the high floors.

You can do it JD!

Rebekah and Ole

Most of the left out food was gone, so I am guessing that J.D. ate some of it, especially as he was sampling the bowls as I left for work.

He only ate half of his 1/4 can of FF Chunky Turkey this evening, but I did add some Miralax to it (which I'm surprised I'm almost out of :? ) and he licked up the watery Miralax. I do not see any poos in the box or otherwise from J.D.
As I was typing he just went three little tiny hardish poos. It's a start..

I got the Terumos and had a few extra minutes when I got home from work. They are different than the ReliOns. The zero line is actually at the top. They do not have a circular plastic band around the top, so I have to measure from the zero line, but at least it is right there where it is supposed to be.
I tried colored water, and squirting the measured dose of colored water from the ReliOn into the Terumo, but it was just one big drop. I tried that twice. Finally, I just measured using the caliper the 1.20mm that I have been giving him with the ReliOn and measured the same mm amount on the Terumo. The ReliOn dose looks like a fat zero line, and the Terumo looks like 1.00 unit. I am changing my spreadsheet to say that I am now giving 1.00 unit.
Um, then I used the caliper to measure the outside width of the two syringes and the ReliOn is actually a thinner syringe.
The ReliOn was 508mm in diameter and the Terumo was 528mm. So, maybe, he got a dose increase tonight.

I need to run to the store. I had the worst experience this morning driving to work. My windshield was iced up and I cleared that with a credit card (works better than an ice scraper), but there must have been some moisture in the air because even though the ice was off, my windshield soon was opaque and then I couldn't see through it at all. I was out in some major traffic and in the left hand land and getting very close to where I would need to merge with an oncoming highway (NJ circle traffic). I needed to pull over as I could not see a thing, and I couldn't even tell where the curb was (I didn't think of opening my window..). I found the curb when my tires bounced over it, and turned on my emergency lights and stopped while cars went around me. Whew! My windshield soon cleared and I was able to continue on my way. I need to buy that windshield washer fluid that de-ices. During all that episode, I had tried my windshield washer fluid and it froze instantly and just made the whole thing worse. Ugg!

J.D. just went onto the pee pad and gave me one real regular sized poo. It was slightly wet around the outsides, but still pretty hard. You, just have to test these things, ya know :)

I gave J.D. some R, and I hope he comes down better than last night. Nice and slowly, J.D.

Yay for poo! That is a relief, for both of you. Come on down, J. D., show off your slidage skills. Scary about the windshield, especially in that traffic.

It sounds like JD is doing better as the day progresses!

As a Minnesotan and former Canadian I thought I would pass along this trick. A spray bottle with 2/3 rubbing alcohol and 1/3 vinegar. Spray the windshield at night and you should be fine in the morning. No ice.

Hi Dyana,

This quote is from Marje's condo "Dosing with Calipers", Sept. 25, 2012:

There were several Terumo syringes in the box where the zero line matched up perfectly with the needle side of the plunger when the plunger was gently pushed in. I measured how many mm are in 1u and 0.5u on the Terumo. Anyone can use this info if you are going to switch to Terumos and use a caliper to dose because I checked almost 1/3 of the Terumo syringes in the box I had. There are 1.52mm in 1u and .76mm in 0.5u; which is PERFECT!! (.76 x 2 = 1.52). So if you are using the Terumos, and you get five drops to .5u, then divide .76 by 5 to arrive at 0.15 mm/drop. (Likewise, there would be 10 drops in 1u; 1.52mm/10 = 0.15mm/drop).

I think this is the info. you are looking for. Hope so! The difference in diameter of the Relion vs. the Terumo syringe cannot really be measured with calipers because you have to take into account the thickness of the plastic body of the syringe.

What a scary thing on your drive! Glad you're OK. Glad J.D. is eating.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

p.s. Don't forget to measure with the calipers from the plastic disc, not from the zero line. Often the zero line is not accurate (it should line up with the plastic disc, but often does not). With the calipers it doesn't matter where the lines are. just use the plastic disc as your "zero line".

I am SOOOO glad about the regular sized poo...you go, J.D.!!!! Now, about those numbers....let's bring 'em down so they are actually numbers, OK!

Scary about your windshield this morning! We've been spoiled this year...it's been cold, but I think today was the first day I had to scrape my windshield before work - and I didn't allow time for that! I'm glad you're OK. I'm going to try Linda and Scooter's trick!!!

Have a great night, Dyana!!

picture of syringe

This is the post that Marje made that has the picture of the Terumo syringe in it. It really helped me when I started using the calipers.

Yippee for poo! Continued appy vines. Too scary on the windshield filming up. Glad things turned out okay

poo is good.....pmps isnt.....I hope the "new" dose works for you.

I would have been scared to death if that we me this morning! Glad you made it through it!

I'm so glad JD is doing better, has eaten, and has had a poo. All good news. Now I hope his numbers will come down for you.

I'm glad Ella and Jane posted some of the info. You will definitely give him a dose increase if you measure the same caliper distance because of the difference in the size of the barrel.

Dyana....your story about your windshield scares me to death for you. Please be careful!!!!! I'm relieved...to say the least...that you are safe.

More healing vines for JD.

Sending tons of healing, appy and good poops vines JD's way. Sounds like he's making some headway.
Oh Dyana, that windshield story is just too scary! We have a ton of humidity here right now as well, and I noticed that we have to let the vehicles warm right up so that the defrost works ASAP. Please stay safe!

ohmygosh that sounds like a horrible driving experience! i've had similar things happen before and not being able to see is the very worst. glad you got through ok.

sending the best for JD! glad he was able to go tonight. hope that made him feel better. :YMHUG:

Oh, Dyana! Very scary experience this am. I've had my windshield do that, but never in traffic. It's scary enough just driving down my street. Linda's tip sounds like a good idea.

Who would have ever thought all these people would be cheering for poo?! The things this disease does to us...

Glad JD is eating and pooing. Now let's hope those numbers come down for you. Sending healing vines and safe driving vines to you.
