Happy Sunday LL!

I have not been successful using my iPad to post yesterday's link, so until I get that figured out I can only do that on my computer at work.

Mary Grace's numbers have been steady surfing through yesterday and today, still high at both shot times.
Thanks for the visits yesterday. I am getting ready to read the article that Wendy sent on insulin resistance. Thanks for the info.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day. My Mary Grace snuggled in my lap sitting in the chilly screened in porch, watching the birds for a long time this morning. I felt like nothing mattered but her and I in that moment. Civvies weren't even jealous. :-D :-D :-D :-D
Edited, I read the article top thoroughly and her symptoms fit most with hyperadrenocortism. I am going to call my vet for a sterile urine collection cup and get that test done. I'd rather bring the vet the sample then her to have to have to be catherized

hi elizabeth!

i'm sorry your post fell to the bottom of the day and hasn't been seen til now.

the hallmark of hypoadrenocortism (also known as Cushing's Disease) is the fragility of the skin. cats with it have such fragile skin that they will literally tear it when they groom. does Mary Grace have skin like that? did you see the pictures in the article wendy linked? it's the least common cause of high doses that we see here. i've only seen a couple of cats with it in the 3 years i've been on.

acromegaly and iaa are the usual causes of the need for the significantly higher doses of insulin. Pancreatitis and infections are probably the most common cause for the slightly higher than usual doses.

edited to add more links with some info that might be helpful to you:

There is a collection of interesting single topic posts at the bottom of the New to the Group sticky. This one has lots of information on acromegaly and some of the other high dose conditions are mentioned in them as well. Might be some good info in there for you.
