Yesterday's Condo

Cinco made me so happy last night - who would have thought cat poo could bring such joy? He also let out one of his trademark howls a little later, and I was actually delighted to hear it, as his vocalizing has been absent for the past couple of weeks. This morning he had a few comments, but used his inside voice (a rarity). :-D He definitely seems perkier, and his numbers are better - we saw blue last night! I think the subqs yesterday helped, so I'm planning to give them daily for a while. Rachel's coconut oil suggestion also played a part, I'm pretty sure, in helping things move along, so thank you, Rachel! Needless to say, I cancelled the vet appointment. :-D

Abyssinians (at least MY Abyssinians) have a habit of sometimes eating too much too fast, with unpleasant consequences. As I sat here reading condos earlier, Harvey demonstrated this. All. over. the. family room. Why can't they stay in one place and just cough it all up??? I guess I should be grateful it was all on the floor - laminate and carpet clean up easier than upholstery. :YMSIGH: The crazy thing is, half an hour later, they want food! Harvey was just in, cleaning up the crumbs left on his breakfast plate and begging for more! Wish we recovered that fast!

Sending prayers and healing vines to Angela and her Daisy, as well as to all others in need. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Hi Tricia! I saw this morning that you had poo, but was waiting for todays condo to say YAY! I'm glad the oil helped, it always seems to help Chyna  . It's also awesome that he howled, and that you don't have to go to the vet. And Cinco looks like he has plans to show you blue soon again today too :-D

Sorry about the pukey pukes for Harvey...I wish they would do it all in one spot too! Chyna goes a few feet between them, yuk. Then you have puke spots all the way from the start to the finish, like following the yellow brick road...Chyna never hits the lino, where it's easy to clean :? I wish I recovered that fast too.

Well, I hope the rest of the day goes smoothly for you :-D

Welcome to LL - you are now officially one of us  !!! Great news - obviously Cinco is also overjoyed!

One of my civvies likes to "water barf"...if he drinks too much water after eating, then jumps down off the counter (because, of course, he only drinks from the kitchen faucet  !), it sometimes jostles his belly just right...and back up it all comes. Not quite the same as your guy, but similar...a few minutes later, he's looking for a refill! Crazy cats.

Have a great day today!!

Poo can bring joy when you are waiting! I am glad Cinco is feeling better. The nice blue number is good too.

I didn't know that coconut oil helped. Do you buy it in the supermarket?

Sorry to jack your thread Tricia, I'm answering Catherine and I should clarify...technically, coconut oil isn't advertised for good poos...I just found it helped Chyna and I figured, hey, it's oil, and I use canola oil sometimes. It's said to be for hairballs/digestion, fur/coat/skin conditions, can help ears...I'm sure other things I'm forgetting ohmygod_smile and it's usually to start with small amounts like 1ml, I just give more for when I need poo. I got mine at the health food store, there are several kinds and the best is the "cold pressed unrefined virgin" one. I had a post last year asking about constipation/itchy that was asking about coconut oil and fish oil, if you're interested here: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=92668&hilit=+coconut+oil Hope that helps ;-)

I don't mind at all, Rachel. Having just read Angela's post about poor, sweet Daisy, I can't think straight right now, anyway.

Catherine, I actually bought it a little over a year ago, but I think I got it in the natural foods aisle at my local supermarket. It solidifies after a while, but I just scraped some off and heated it in the microwave until it melted, then mixed it in with the baby food or cat food. Rachel said to give 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. I gave 1/2 teaspoon in some baby food and the other half in his dinner a couple hours later. Mine is actually organic and refined, but it worked, so I'm pleased.

Cool, I was hoping it was ok, I just didn't want anyone to read the condo and think otherwise! I was told to start in small amounts like 1ml (I just edited my first post too), but for bad no poo I was giving 1/2 or more tsp of canola oil so I do the same for coconut. I think it can give them runny poos if you give too much...but I guess if they're constipated, it evens out? :o My mom told me to heat it up in water so I put a little bit in a measuring cup and float it on hot water  The things we do for our kitties! I'm just so glad that Cinco gave you poo and you didn't have to go to the vet

Me, too! He seems so much better today that I am debating the sub-qs I can't decide if I should do it every day or every other. Just now, I was working out and I could hear him in the living room, hollering! I jogged in to see what was going on, and he was just standing in the middle of the room. He hasn't done that in ages! I guess I'll just play it by ear. I just hear his feeder turn, so I'm going to go sneak in a quick test. ;-)

Yay on the vocalizing and feeling perkier. I'm glad Cinco is doing better. My cats have a knack for hitting any cord that is on the floor if they vomit. ohmygod_smile
