Last Night:
562 PMPS
250 +6.5
228 +9

With those numbers last night, I was hoping he was coming down nice and slowly and today's AMPS would be better.

This morning, at AMPS, he drank some water, ate a few bites of food, peed and pooed, and went back to bed, followed by Ginger.

In looking outside, it is not currently snowing. There is a thin layer of white on the walkways. I hope it isn't ice, but I'm wearing my cleats to the vet just the same.
I guess I should ask the vet about a possible kidney infection as he continues to pee on the carpet especially first thing when getting up in the morning, and maybe get a vitamin B test if there is one. The last time I talked to the vet she mentioned Anabolic steroids again, and said they wouldn't be a good thing for a diabetic. I asked her about giving him fluids before this test to see if that would affect the HCT value and she said he was not dehydrated and that I should not give him extra fluids because they could over load his kidneys or something like that.

Wish us well. I am hoping his values are better today.

Sending good vetty vines this morning I hope your walkways and roads aren't too messy.

Re: 03/03 J.D. AMPS 422, +2.25 374, +3 249 at vet, +4 191

J.D.'s blood pressure was good. I'll get the written report tomorrow along with the urinalysis and blood work. The vet did put a few cat treats in front of him as the blood pressure was being taken and he ate them all up happily. She said his appetite is good.

The vet said last time that his BG is well controlled (because of the 214 on his last blood work two weeks ago). I told her that was only one test. I brought her a print out of my spreadsheet. She said maybe I should switch to the Alpha Trak :( I offered to compare my Arkray Vital to her Alpha Trak and it was 329 Alpha Trak to 249 Arkray. Maybe I should go back to the more expensive OneTouch. When I compared the OneTouch to the vet's meter (testing the ear) and to J.D.'s IDEXX blood work results in the past, the OneTouch was always within 10, sometimes 20 points.
J.D. squirmed a lot for the blood draw in the jugular, which is not like him, and he squirmed a little when they finally got the blood from his back leg. We used the little bit of blood that she got from the jugular to test the two meters with.

The blood work on the receipt says Cbc Comprehensive. The vet tech asked the doctor if she wanted to do it in house or send it out, and the doctor said to send it out in case they need pathology (or something like that). I hope the blood work tests for all the normal stuff.

I did order a new Arkray Vital meter to use as a back up along with strips that should be here on Wednesday along with my anxiously awaited Terumo syringes.

The doctor said I may want to add a Fructosamine to the tests and I declined.
The BG test on her Alpha Trak was $19. That's a lot. As was the $33.11 for FortiFlora.

J.D. was happy to be on the way home as always, and since it's only a dusting of snow, I let him walk from the car to my condo and just had to carry my purse and his empty carrier back to the house. He went immediately to his food bowl and ate as he always does when we get back from the vetty place.

Dyana,

Sending vines for J.D. and all bloodwork to come back good. As least he got in a short walk this morning. Hopefully this weather will break soon so you can take him and Ginger out for their walks.

Hi guys .. I'm glad J.D.'s blood pressure was good, that he had a good appy at the vets and that he isn't dehydrated .. it's crazy how expensive some stuff at the vet's can be .. like, $19.00 for a bg test? Really?! Ugh .. Hope the rest of your day is a good one!

Re: 03/03 J.D. +4 191, +6 118, +7 129

I'm glad everything went okay at the vet and J.D.'s BP was good. That's great J.D. was able to walk back and everything wasn't too messy. I hope you get good b/w results back.

J.D. ate his 1st Dinner. Huh, sure would like lower PSs.

We went for a very short walk this afternoon. It was very cold outside and when my nose and hands started getting frozen, I knew J.D.'s feet in the snow must be colder. He had his jacket on, but his feet must have been cold.

I just gave him some cypro as I would like to have seen him eat a little more during the day today.
