I can't think very well right now. I can't believe Barbara is gone. It's so sad, and I am still in shock, :(

I finished entering the lab results into my spreadsheet before I logged on and read the news.

    TOTAL HEALTH PLUS Hematology
Test - Result - Reference Range - Flag
    WBC - 12.6 - 3.9 to 19.0K/uL
    RBC - 6.37 - 7.12 to 11.46M/uL - L
    HGB - 10.4 - 10.3 to 16.2g/dL
    HCT - 35.3 - 28.2 to 52.7 %
    MCV - 55 - 39 to 56fL
    MCH - 16.3 - 12.5 to 16.5pg
    MCHC - 29.5 - 28.5 to 37.8g/dL
    % NEUTROPHIL - 55.6 - - %
    % LYMPHOCYTE - 32.0 - - %
    % MONOCYTE - 5.4 - - %
    % EOSINOPHIL - 7.0 - - %
    % BASOPHIL - 0.0 - - %
    AUTO PLATELET - 465 - 155 to 641K/uL
    REMARKS SLIDE REVIEWED MICROSCOPICALLY
NEUTROPHILS APPEAR SLIGHTLY TOXIC. INCREASED CRENATION, UNABLE TO FURTHER EVALUATE RBC MORPHOLOGY.
    NEUTROPHIL - 7006 - 2620 to 15170/uL
    LYMPHOCYTE 4032 850 - 5850/uL
    MONOCYTE - 680 - 40 to 530/uL - H
    EOSINOPHIL - 882 - 90 to 2180/uL
    BASOPHIL - 0 - 0 to 100/uL
    RETICULOCYTE - 13 - 3 to 50K/uL
    % RETICULOCYTE - 0.2 - - %

QUESTION: What does "NEUTROPHILS APPEAR SLIGHTLY TOXIC. INCREASED CRENATION, UNABLE TO FURTHER EVALUATE RBC MORPHOLOGY." mean?

    From my condo last night:
J.D. does tend to twitch his legs and sometimes his head. I hope it's just because he's older.
QUESTION: Does "stomach protectants and antacids" mean Pepcid?

J.D. ate pretty good last night, and this morning.

Barbara, I'll miss you :YMHUG: :-|

    Hi Dyana

I found this article on neutrophil toxicity on the Cornell website that may shed some light.
    and this article on crenation

I would consider pepsid a stomach protectant

Thanks Sandy for the links. I printed them from work and will read them when I get home.

Still no phone call from the vet, yet. :-|

I would think the Pepcid would be a stomach protectant too. I hope you can find something that helps J.D. that doesn't have a problem with what you already give him. :YMHUG: :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

i don't know about those, dyana, but am glad Sandy could turn up some information. Hope your vet has gotten back to you by now.

it seems reasonable to consider Pepcid to be a "stomach protectant."

No, the vet never called me today.
And, I don't know what I'm supposed to do. I had told Barbara for about a year or maybe more, that I would take Tuffy, and now I don't know what's happening. I did not talk to her much in the past couple of months except for a few forwarded emails back and forth, so I don't know if she found a new home for Tuffy or what I am supposed to do. I talked to her last Saturday evening, and she didn't mention anything about the surgery to me. Maybe she found another home for Tuffy and didn't want to tell me.

J.D. got a touch of R, and we went for a walk. My boss let me go home early, today. He is a kind man.

Sounds like Michelle/Mannie talked to her the most recently - maybe if you pm her you could ask about the arrangements about Tuffy. With JD having so much trouble recently, she may not have wanted to add to your plate. I don't know if the current arrangement is temporary or was meant to be forever. :YMHUG:
