Yesterday's Condo

Hello all! I took a mini road trip yesterday evening and did not get home until 2:30 am. The AMPS was a fail at 4:30 am. I couldn't figure out why until after a couple more hours of sleep... I forgot to put the lancet in the pen!!! Ugh!! I thought I poked my buddy like 5 times! So really it was me that failed. But his +3 was blue.

Ok, so I'm seeing purple today! Bummer, dude. Maybe he bounced so high because his post PM meal was at 2:30 am, he wouldn't let me sleep, so I caved

So you're saying you didn't get an AMPS reading at all? Just a suggestion: lose the pen. We just use the lancets to poke Cinco. Works fine.

Hang in there. We all have our challenges with testing/shooting. I have been the poster child for that the past few days!

Thanks, Tricia! I tried poking sans pen, and found I like the pen better. I just didn't put a lancet in the pen, I was running on fumes!

Given that my mid day glucose test was later than normal, I expected to still see purple this evening. Which is a bummer, since we did so good the last two days...

Hey Brian!

If the food was at 2:30 and the AMPS was a fail at 4:30, I don't think it had anything to do with it.

I think the 82 from yesterday's AM cycle is probably the culprit that caused the stinky pinky tonight.

One good thing though...Tyler seems to clear his bounces pretty quickly! Hopefully he'll be back in the yellows or blues soon!

Re: 4/1 Tyler AMPS fail +3 157 +8 320 PMPS 332 Yikes!

don't worry about tonight's numbers - they'll come down. it might very well be a bounce - probably is. although he'd seen plenty of green numbers before and you'd think he was used to them, but he's also bounced from them before. might be short bounce because he's gotten fairly used to the green numbers. if any of that makes sense after i've edited it repeatedly! :o :-D

i used the lancet device and also liked it. one tip if you don't get blood (other than putting in a lancet!) is that if you hold the device lid on his ear for about 5 sec before you poke, then keep it there for another 5 sec. the pressure will help make blood well up.

have a great evening, brian!

You ladies are great! Thanks!

Question... Tyler kicks his back feet sometimes and licks them... like maybe they are numb. Should I worry about neuropathy, can cats eve get that?!

Re: 4/1 Tyler AMPS fail +3 157 +8 320 PMPS 332 Yikes!

yes, cats can get neuropathy. i don't have much experience with that, but i think the typical symptom is that they begin to walk down on their hocks. so their back legs are on the floor up to their "knees."

you can give Zobaline to diabetic cats to help with neuropathy - it's available on Amazon and many people have said it makes a big improvement in their cat's walking. i don't know about the licking of his feet. are you thinking they hurt?

Hmmm.. He walks just fine. I just observed recently that he, for no apparent reason, sometimes gets a little kicky with one of his hind feet (like if they were wet or... or if someone, who shall remain anonymous, has been tickling those tufty toes)... so it made me wonder if neuropathy was a possibility.

Thanks for the input, Miss Julie. I'll keep my eyes on him, and ask my vet upon our next visit

Cool beans! He's dropped back to blue over the last five hours.

You wonderful people have a good night, this guy is going to recharge! Wicked Algebra at 8:00 am, sharp! Bleh!!
