Good morning,

Yesterday's condo

Yesterday
AMPS=191 (0.75u); +2=248; +9.5=184
PMPS=185 (0.75u); +2=167; +5=194

Today
AMPS=178 (0.75u); +2=263; +8=212
PMPS=198 (0.75u); +2=214; +4=320

It is hard to tell how she's feeling today yet, but she was showing some signs of improvements yesterday.
Her appetite is still not so good, especially with the 2nd and 3rd meals, but I think her mood is getting better.
She's purrier and her eyes are brighter.

I am a bit concerned about her bowel movement.
She hasn't been pooping enough since she got sick.
I added some laxative power mixed in her 1st breakfast this morning, so hopefully I'll help.

Sending vines to all in need.

Re: 5/2 Lucy AMPS=178;+2=263

A big spike at +2 again....
She gets pred in the morning, but this is still a way bigger spike than her usual.
So of course I'm worried there's some other issues making her BG to raise after eating.
I'm not concerned about her BG too much right now because I want her to be well first, but am concerned about possible underlying cause....

Re: 5/2 Lucy AMPS=178;+2=263

I'm glad to hear she's purrier and bright-eyed today! Hopefully the spike is just one of those flukes....these cats do like to keep us MamaBean's on our toes ... and not always in a good way :roll: .

Sending poo vines to her, too! Have a great day, Mariko!

Re: 5/2 Lucy AMPS=178;+2=263

Yay for being purrier and bright-eyed. I hope Lucy continues to show improvement. Hopefully that +2 is just a food spike. They sometimes like to throw higher numbers at us for no reason.

Hi Mariko! I finally managed to get onto and sign into FDMB. Poo and appy vines have been sent:) I'm glad Lucy seems brighter and hope she will continue to improve, it's hard when they are under the weather and I pray she will perk up more for you. Have a good Friday and hugs to you have also been sent:)

Lucy was making really good progress today, but she vomited again just now.
Lots of half digested food.
I'm so sad about it.
I'll give her cerenia in a bit.

Cerenia pilling didn't go too well.
She didn't want it wrapped in anything, so I just had to shove it in her.
She probably hid it in her mouth for too long and it started melting.
She drooled lots of formy drools.
I hope cerenia is OK to be absorbed before reaching stomach.
Poor Lucy. I want to cry.

Sometimes coating a pill with a touch of butter keeps it from dissolving in the mouth as easily.
(I know what you mean about foaming - when I gave one of my civvies Baytril, I got slimed every time)

Mariko,

I'm so sorry you're having difficulty pilling Lucy and that she's not keeping down her food. Sending mega comfort vines to you and anti-nausea vines to Lucy.

Pilling has always been one of my most least favorite things to do. Unfortunately our civvie Ivan requires daily pilling due to his cardiomyopathy, so I had to come up with a foolproof and minimal-stress process. I've found that the pill pockets work very well. I don't use the whole pocket. I break off just enough to coat the pill and then just pop it in his mouth with my hand (I've never had luck with the pill popper). If you haven't tried this already maybe it will work for you too.

I hope Lucy is better soon.

My Ginger is hard to pill, and will work the pill in her mouth and bite rapidly until she's foaming like she has rabies.
Luckily, Ginger doesn't get a lot of pills Knock On Wood. With J.D. I wrap a piece of pill pocket around small bits of pills like the 1/4 tablets of cerenia, cypro, ondansetron, and pepcid, even his bigger whole tablets of Baytril get a bit of pill pocket put around it. Then I open his mouth and push the pill right to the edge of his throat and he swallows it. I use my index finger so keep the finger nail trimmed well so I don't accidently scratch his mouth. If he is in the act of eating I wait until he is finished as he will bite me if he is chewing something already.

Sending major feel better vines to Lucy.

Mariko, so sorry Lucy is still not feeling well. Have you tried putting her pills in gel capsules? I swear by them. It eliminates the taste and mushy pill factor should they spit it out. I chase Max's with a little baby food which he loves. I hope enough of the pill got into her. Maybe call your vet and ask if you can give another dose tonight if it seems like it didn't work because of the melting?? Do you have any ondanestron? That would be another option as it it okay to give it along with cerenia according to vets I have spoken with about that. I'm sending healing vines your way.
