There's not much to report in Trixie's corner today. Her appy is adequate....not horrible, but not the wonderful gluttony we had a few days ago, either. I guess that's just par for the course these days. Since she does OK with the syringe feeding, I don't get quite as stressed about it as I used to, but it does still bum me out...she used to love eating so much. I'll just keep praying she reverts back to her old ways some day...

She did further prove that at least part of this is psychological again...she keeps sending me little clues. Anyway, as you all probably recall, before the pancreatitis, she LOVED FortiFlora, but since the p-titis, she won't touch it and turns her head if I hold the pack under her nose. Yesterday was a little interesting. There were two bowls of kibbles on the floor...one was sprinkled with FortiFlora, and the other wasn't. She walked up to the bowl with FortaFlora, sniffed it, and walked over to the other bowl without FortiFlora. She ate a few kibbles from the non-FortiFlora bowl, but had no interest in the sprinkled kibbles. Interesting....and sad and frustrating that she's afraid to eat things that she used to so thoroughly enjoy.

Not that I'm advocating letting an FD kitty it kibbles under most circumstances, but as we know with Trix, her appy issues are trumping the "no-kibble" rule. Any time I've let her have accesss to a bowl of kibbles, she limits herself to just a few...which is also interesting.

I'm at work today and have the store to myself. I don't expect it to be busy because it's a beautiful day...foot traffic is usually pretty low when the weather is really nice. But, I'm the tech person and there is lots of website work to do....so I'd better get to it.

Sending extra vines out to J.D. this morning. Have a great day, LL!

Morning Amy ~O) ~O) ~O)

Another great day for trixie! Greens rule once again. Nice that she's doing well.

I ran into the same thing with Mannie after his p'titis. The kitty that once loved to eat really didn't after his p'titis. He was the same: would not eat things he used to love. gradually we did get a few back, but not many. Well, we adjust. it's just good to read she is doing well.

have a great day today. I hope all goes well at TBP.

Glad Trixie ate a little. I guess she is relating the food to the pain of the p-titus? I certainly hope that she will once again start to enjoy her food once again.
Green is a good color, but not so much when you know it's from not eating to much....but then again, she did eat some kibble, so a little kibble doesn't seem to hurt her bg's much.

Have a good day!!

Trix's green is actually from the fact that her pancreas is working, not from not eating. She's been off the juice for almost 8 weeks now (when the pancreatitis first started); her pancreas kicks in when she eats and a few hours after a meal, her numbers come down to the greens. She's a non-traditional OTJ kitty.

Her appy isn't great, but overall she's eating enough - between what she eats on her own, and what I syringe, she's eating a "normal" amount of food every day. I don't fight her on kibble these days, because her appy isn't great on it's own, so if she wants a few stray kibbles, I see it as a few stray calories.

I'm sure at this point she may still have some low-grade p-titis smoldering there - it very well could be chronic at this point, but she also has some psychological issues with food for sure.

I am rolling with it as best I can, Michelle....I know this may be her new normal. Still can't help but wish for her old eating style, but we'll do whatever we have to, as long as she is happy and comfy - and she IS both of those.

DH left a plate of fuds out when he went swimming this afternoon. When he got home, 90% of it was gone! Now granted we've got 4 civvies in the house in addition to Trix, but as you guys know, those civvies are hardcore kibble addicts. Given our investigative skills and knowing our kitties daytime sleeping/activity patterns (ie, it is rare for anyone other than Trix to actually MOVE during the day!), we believe that it was Trix who actually ate the fuds, especially since everyone else was still in the same spot they were in when DH left; Trix, however, had switched from ZenSnuggles to PeteySnuggles. Our theory is that she got up for a sip of water (which is common for her to do), and grabbed a little snack on her way back to snuggle with Pete.

Oh, how I wish I had a hidden camera to know for sure, but if it was her, this is really a new first - eating fuds totally on a whim, totally on her own, without me presenting the plate to her....

Yay on the eating on her own! I'll bet you're right that it was her - good investigative skills! You can get a camera fairly inexpensively that will allow you to watch then while you're gone. Just set it up so you can see the food dish, and you can check whenever you want - a helicopter mom's dream! ;-) My sister has one she uses to check on her two young yellow labs when they are home unsupervised. It's great.

I hope you day at tbp is over, or almost over by now, and that you have a nice, snuggly evening with your kitties.

Yay for Trixie grazing! :-D a Wasn't it Kat who had a motion activated infrared camera and caught her cat in the litterbox?

I'm so excited you've finally decided she's OTJ!!!   And it's wonderful that she decided to sneak a soft food treat while you were gone.

Yes...Kat had the kitty camera on Gobbles in the LB. I think they aren't too expensive.

Sending tons of hugs and eating vines for Trixie!
