Nothing unusual to report in Trixie's world today. I got up well after "+4" this morning (overslept due to exhaustion), so between that and her barely-out-of-range AMBG, I decided to give her a pokey break this morning...no follow-up, so no Mr Greenie just yet today. I'll have to go for it this evening!

She's holding steady with her eating patterns now. She doesn't really eat enough on her own through the course of an entire day, so I'm still doing 3-4 syringes a day, depending on how much she does eat on her own.

Other than that, though, and despite all my lamenting about her "new normal" for her eating habits that are making me a bit nuts, she really seems like "Trixie"....she's social, bright-eyed, looks comfortable, no vomiting, had a perfect poo this morning, etc. So I'm not sure what all is going on with her appy. As you guys know, my theory is that it's a mix of psychological and physical. She is a very sensitive kitty...I could totally see her being psychologically uncomfortable about eating after all she's been through.

My staycation starts in a week and a half (I cannot believe it has been 6 months since winter staycation!!!!); I hope that being home for the week will help shed a little more insight. It is hard to try and encourage her to eat more on her own and see if we can get her "independent" again when I'm pressed for time in the mornings and I need to get food into her before I leave for work. She does seem to eat better for me in the evenings, and of course a big part of that is probably because I have the entire evening to offer food to her.

Last night, Elise asked if Trix was on any appy stimulants. This is what I wrote...it was late, so many probably didn't see it:
Trix can't have appy stimulants - they react VERY badly with her BP meds....she she damn near passed out the last time I tried giving her 1/4 of a cypro tablet. We're left to our own devices. It's hard to say why her appy is off. Part of it is definitely psychological. Could be the CKD, but even when she was initially diagnosed with Stage 4 CKD her appy was fabulous...we never would have guessed her kidney values were so bad because she would eat anything and everything. We were shocked with this diagnosis. Her CKD was restaged to Stage 3 about a month later because once we got her BP under control, her kidney values improved a bit. Her appy was derailed when she developed the p-titis, which was now 8 weeks ago (and shortly after her BP was under control). So I really can't say for sure, other than the p-titiis was definitely the catalyst for the crappy appy.

I'm off today, but have errands to run, so I'd better get moving. I started picking out her OTJ pictures yesterday, too, and only got up to the folders through 2005  , so I have a ton more to sort through for that, too. What a trip down memory lane.....she was nearly starved to death when we found her (our former neighbors abandoned her), and it always makes me teary-eyed to see how far she came from where she started. She was all skin and bones...you could see her skeleton through her fur. Her avatar was taken a couple months after she moved in...it was her first "real" Christmas, and I am sure that that red mouse was her first Christmas present. I can't imagine that a family who would abandon her would give her gifts.

Have a great day, LL!

Hi guys ... awww, I guess I never heard the story of how trixie became yours! What a sad story but so happy she found her furever home with you guys .. This is one party that is going to get wild and crazy, I can just tell already! Have a great day guys!

What a great "gotcha" story on Trixie. She is one lucky girl to have picked you. So excited for you and your staycation. Love those. Have a great day Amy!

Awww, Trixie and her red mouse! You have given her such a great furever home! I love hearing that she's acting like herself, but sorry that the appy hasn't gotten any easier to predict. I tell ya, these cats and their appies drive me nuts! @-) I can't wait until your staycation. Until then, have a great day off and give your girl some scritches from me!

I just don't understand people at all. It makes me insane the way they treat animals. Trixie sure got lucky that her idiot owners lived next to you! I'm so glad she's continuing to show more and more of her "old" purrsonality. :-D

Sending more appy vines and scritches for Trixie!

I'm glad Trixie seems like her old self, except for her eating. I hope that gets more normal too. She's lucky to have you for her bean. It's so sad the way some people treat animals.
